Early Access Review
First of all, this game is still in active development, so this review might eventually end up being obsolete, but here's my pros/cons and a little bit more detail afterwards.

Pros
- A fun fighting game
- Massively accessible character creation / customization (If you can dream it, chances are you can make the character)
- Workshop support, allowing for an essentially infinite roster you can download and play. (Quality notwithstanding)

Cons
- Extremely floaty combat (at 150%, the main cast has trouble knocking each other off of the stage)
- No stage / audio editor (at the time of review)

To expand upon the good: The big draw of this game is its robust character creator and editor, and interesting use of a fake 3D effect used to give every character depth. It's an especially good tool that supports exporting animations as PNG files that you can edit and clean up and put back into the game, or to use in other products. (With no need to pay extra for the rights! PLEASE never change this!! As an indie game dev this could be extremely useful!) And yes, this means that if somebody can imagine it, they can create it, and you can expect to see all sorts of characters to download on the workshop, of varying degrees of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and quality.

As for the bad, my main complaint is the overall combat system feels extremely light and floaty. There's no sense of weight at all, as characters will be able to gently fall. And the attacks in particular, even for the main official cast, feel as though they have no weight or punch to them. As I mentioned, I was having trouble knocking out fighters at 150%, and that's with level 3 AI. This might require a change to the overall system, which I understand would be a lot of work, but giving the physics more weight in general would improve the feel of the combat imo.

Overall, this is a very interesting game with a robust character creator that could honestly be used as its own product / tool, and a promising little fighting game with infinite fighter possibilities. Just please add a background music editor, I'd like to be able to make my own character with her own battle theme!

I used to quite enjoy this game, and admittedly I haven't played in a long time. But I cannot in goof conscience support this game or its developers any longer. They call LGBTQ+ folk "political" and thus ban them, but don't do a thing if you're straight and cisgendered talking about it. As if LGBTQ+ people are a taboo subject that shouldn't be spoken about, silencing them however they see fit.

And this has also brought out the "anti-woke" crowd who are now purchasing the game just to talk about how "based" the developers are for actively banning LGBTQ+ people, which will make the game even more toxic. So until the developers put a stop to this behavior in their own game and studio, I will not support this game and will not recommend it to people.

I've never written a review for a game before, but I felt that this game deserved a review.

NieR:Automata is truly an amazing experience. The story is amazing and this game does not fail on the emotions department. The soundtrack is absolutely superb, with many amazing songs that perfectly convey the emotions and power of each scene and battle. The gameplay is fun and fast paced, with many creative elements of bullet hell, side-scroller views, top-down views, and many other creative and wonderful elements that all blend together beautifully.

This is a game that requires multiple playthroughs to truly understand the story, with 5 main endings to unlock. Every time you play through the game, the gameplay changes some, and things are different, making each playthrough different in subtle, or extreme ways. I beat this game in 40 hours, and that was with the side quests mostly finished, so this isn't the longest game out there. I'd say it's just long enough.

The difficulty can range from so easy the game literally plays it's self, to so hard that if you get hit once, you immediately die. I always played on Normal mode, and never had too much of a problem with this game.

This is important, but be sure you play through the game in it's entirety, every ending and as many side quests as you care for.

I highly recommend this game, for new comers and hardcore gamers. This game had so much love and emotion put into it, with the same amount of creativity you would see in an amazing indie game like Undertale. It's an amazing experience that anybody who enjoys action games should play.

The moment I started playing this game, I was in awe with the beautiful art style. The music and visuals are absolutely gorgeous. I immediately thought about Dust, another game I enjoy, except the battle system is more turn based. But that doesn't mean the battle system was bad, it's really quite fun. The music is beautiful, definitely one I enjoy. Over-all, this is a wonderful game, done in a fantastic way that feels like an interactive storybook.
