Early Access Review
This game went from a somewhat alive community with good pvp and great content (myrdosh / atlantis) to the biggest pile of garbage (DARK LEGACY) with tedious content like having the same events with little variations, a boring level system (who on earth was thinking that it was a good idea to go from 50 to 100) and a dead community.

1,5/10, wouldn´t recommend this game to anyone.

As a person, whos first final fantasy was XII and has enjoyed it on the ps2 version since I was a little rugrat, I can say that this game is my personal favourite. The design of the characters, monsters, landscapes and even the weapons are beautiful. The music, composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto is amazing, literally stunning and makes you really sink into the world of Ivalice far deeper than any other game.

The biggest reason for why I love this game so much, is the voice acting / writing, especially how well they are written, how far they are pushing their limits to make them vocally unique. Almost no character sounds dull or completely standard, (probz go out for Michael E. Rodgers, aka the voice actor of Gabranth, whos acting was really impressive.)

Gameplay whise is this version of FF really "good". The complete removal of battle screens (except for boss fights) and the implimentation of the "Gambit-System" makes the game pacing so much more effective and fun, no longer do you get forced to a battle screen, where you have to fight your enemies based on turns. All of this happens right now, the only thing you have to do is to adjust your gambits and boom, everything works automatically. There are tricky situations, in the later stages of the game however, that require a certain amount of focus, but other than that, if you know how to work with gambits, there is nothing to be afraid of.

As much as I like the game however, there are two major problems. First is the lackluster story. I won´t spoil anything related to it, but if you are expecting a fully fledged story with deep character development and heartcrushing moments like in FF7 or 10, you are somewhat mistaken here. Dont get me wrong, the story is still "good", but compared to previous FF installments its more of an "eh" than otherwise.

Another problem I have with this game is that it ´s ..... easier than the PS2 version. With the newest release of FF12 - TZA, there are many ways to exploit and outright abuse the system. You can become a walking god on the first levels, get the most busted, unfair weapons and the strongest armour in the early stages and just stampede through the entire game. Of course, you can play the game completely fair and straight, but even then the game offers almost no great challenges. In rare cases was I in a situation, where I couldn´t handle a certain enemy/boss, whether my gambits, tactics or equip were suboptimal. But even then, all I did was pressing the speed button to make the game 2x/4x times faster, farmed for like an hour, got myself better equipment and just went right into it, winning the fights easy peasy. Even Yiazmat, the "ultimate boss" is not even a big threat since they have removed the damage cap, the real challenges I had to put a lot of effort into fighting them were Ultima, Zodiark, Omega Mark XII and the Five Judges in the Trial Mode.

But even with all of its flaws, even tho you can make the game either challenging or way too easy, with its flawed storyline and even when the game gets dull at a certain point, I do still love this game and I enjoyed almost every bit of it. A almost wonderful JRPG, with an interesting battle system and a beautifully designed world building, that looks good even in 2021.

Altough you may not want to pay the full price of 50 bucks, since it´s still a bit too much money for a remastered version, especially when you compare it to what they did with FFX and FFX-2 (almost half the price for two ff games).

Sorry for bad England.

Thank goodness that DECA took this game over and made it far more enjoyable than ever.
