Your vampire is in another castle.

Whilst the game is rather short and it did release with some bugs, the developer came through to fix everything they could without breaking anything in the process. A good game for a relaxing afternoon, perhaps a bit more if you are going after achievements like i did.

A free chill idle game.

Played it when i was about one third of the age i am now.

Even though it is very simple graphic-wise and the soundtrack sounds very dated, this is one of those games you'll fire up and find yourself hours later trying to get 99/99 in a certain skill.

So where do i even start with this game? At first glance it seems nothing more then a walking simulator with some puzzles mixed in like Amnesia the Dark Descent did, wich might have been the template for this game. You'll find out that as you progress, you'll start questioning a lot of things. How did everything go so wrong and why did you, Simon Jarett from Toronto get selected to clean up the mess left behind? At some points, i even started questioning the choices i made in the game, wondering if it was the right one even if it felt like it at the time.

The only thing i could possibly rag on are the visuals, these tended to strain my eyes after about an hour or more of playing and breaks in between are reccomended. The audio however is great and fits the atmosphere really well. All be it a bit short and some puzzles a bit unclear at first, i fully reccomend you play the game at least once as thats all it will even take if you are an achievement hunter.

I made a joke review when i nominated this for the Steam Awards.

Now i feel like that was just an injustice to this game and its developers, Purple Lamp Studios truely outdid themselves making a game from over 17 years ago look like it could have been a brand new Spongebob game if they didnt tell anyone it was a remake of what is considered the best game starring the titular sponge.

Great visuals and remasters of the old songs to fit more into today's standards, the same gameplay you experienced all those years ago but way smoother. I could keep fawning over how good it is compared to the original but its for the best that people experience this game for themselves.

If you dont, you're a barnaclehead.

As many, i was sceptic about this game at first.

As one would i immediatly made the comparison to other open world titles such as Grand Theft Auto or Saints Row but i quickly found myself to be liking this game as its own. The story of Wei Shen takes us around a very flashy town (wich comes most to its right during nighttime) following his undercover mission infiltrating the Sun On Yee, with him threading the line of being a criminal and cop. Sure, not all of it was just going in, guns blasting as the game prides itself in a very smooth hand-to-hand combat system and sometimes it made room to go down a les dramatic path such as dates with girlfriends (wich as you will find out have literal benefits) and even a more common passtime such as karaoke.

The DLC adds some hours to the game and i personally found myself going back to them to grind out the achievements (having 100% on the original version where you had to pay for DLC as a loose product and this one in half the time). I truely cannot reccomend this game enough to anybody who likes a good story reminiscent of old cop movies.

GRIS is not a game, its an experience.

Good.

Its sad how it took one game's failure for this game to get revitalized as i first got wind of this game after Mighty No. 9 being dubbed an absolute flop with the amount of time and money that was put into it. Having beaten the game a few times i did feel like the game does get tiresome after a while but does what its supposed to do.

Mega Man fans should have this in their library regardless as its one of the better "clones" out there.
