Lethal Company
If you ever wanted to be a great asset to a company that actually cares about you, you should get Lethal Company and spending 10€ on Lethal Company was one of the best decisions I've made.

If you have friends and plan on buying this game, you totally should. The non modded version of Lethal Company is decent but keep in mind that updates are coming in a bit slow because Lethal Company has only a single developer behind it, but on the flip side, every update that has come to Lethal Company was good and added some things here and there. Version 50 is the biggest update as of writing this review and added three moons, new entities and changed a few things on top of that.

If the vanilla version of Lethal Company isn't good enough for you, you should have a look at mods. There are an absurd amount of mods out there and you will certainly find something that you will like. There are mods that make the game more difficult or mods that add new entities and moons to the game or mods that push some quality of life improvements your way - there is a mod for everything; yes even for what you're probably thinking about.

It's a good game. Play it with friends or alone. Get mods. Squish hoarding bugs and enjoy the screaming from your friends after they discover what kind of mods you pushed onto them.

Also, buy the boombox and vibe to the music, its a banger.

"Your honest work is invaluable to the company." - Your employer

Marvel Rivals
The game is alright, it runs pretty good for an closed alpha. Two maps, a handful of characters - some of them are clearly too strong and need adjustments but there's still time. The art style is pretty cool. The destructible environment is neat and opens up possible flanking moves.

Some of the skins that are available in the closed alpha are pretty dope - the guys in the skin and art-style department need a rise asap!

The closed alpha is on US servers only, so as someone from Europe you will experience high pings and lag but it's not as bad as I thought would be. 140-160 ping is alright but it also depends on the character you play. Oh and the assist notification sounds like you're getting stabbed, so you low key get the London treatment.

The most annoying thing about the closed alpha is that the damage feedback isn't really there. You see that your HP goes down but there is no other feedback for that. The classic red screen would do wonders here.

DONT MESS WITH THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN!

I've played Battlebit Remastered for about four hours and I've seen more destruction than I've seen in Battlefield 2042 after 150 hours.

RimWorld
RimWorld is all about building up a nice little colony after crashing on a distant planet. The goal is to survive and advance far enough to be able to escape that strange planet you crash landed on.

RimWorld: The basic war crime simulator with a bit of colony sim attached to it.

Royalty DLC: It's all about committing war crimes while you build up your royal lineage - sounds like the UK innit?

Ideology DLC: Committing war crimes in a cult that thrives by brain washing people into your believes.

Biotech DLC: Committing war crimes with the addition of children - you can also modify genetics and build mechanoids to commit war crimes more efficently!

In all seriousness, I put like 85 hours into RimWorld so far and even the base game offers a lot of replayability. I haven't touched any mods yet but scrolling through the workshop page alone made me realize that there is a lot of stuff to mess around with.

I would recommend trying out the base version of RimWorld first before buying any DLCs or adding mods, since it's probably best to learn how the game works before adding a bunch of stuff that makes the game more complex or that makes changes to how the game works.

And no, giving prisoners some weed and booze before releasing them is not a crime - but shooting them in the back afterwards might be.

Dave the Diver
Dave the Diver is a casual adventure game that focuses on diving in the ocean and catching fish whilst having some light RPG elements to it.

Story

The player jumps into the role of Dave who has to supply his sushi restaurant with fish during the day and sells the freshly caught fish as sushi by night.

During each dive you are tasked to find a few things or you encounter side quests while following the main quest that leads the player deeper and deeper into the ocean of the Blue Hole.

Personal Note

The gameplay loop of diving during the day and selling sushi by night is pretty simple, but soon after your first handful of dives the gameplay loop changes a bit – sure, you still need to dive and catch fish to ensure that your sushi restaurant runs well, but you will encounter bosses and challenges ahead that makes the game a bit harder.

The progression system in the game feels natural since you unlock more gadgets and recipes by following the main story and by simply playing the game, without feeling the need to grind to get certain gadgets or upgrades.

I personally wasn’t sure if I would enjoy playing the game at first and saw a Streamer play it and I bought it soon after.

Dave the Diver has something unique to it: The cutscenes are amazing, the references to other things are good, the gameplay loop is simple but rewarding and most importantly: It’s a fun game and certainly one of the more surprising releases of 2023 (if you consider that it was available in early access at the end of 2022).

Rating
    Pros
  • Nice story and good humor
  • Good graphics and aesthetics
  • Chill soundtrack
  • Unique-ish concept
  • Usually well-made boss fights
    Cons
  • Keyboard controls can be a bit iffy
  • Some bosses can be a bit though
Conclusion

Dave the Diver is a game that just keeps on giving, which is rare in 2023.

For 20€ you will get a game that offers you a story with good humor, interesting & quirky characters, decent gameplay and just overall a game that is a good vibe.

So, is Dave the Diver worth to get? Yeah certainly. You get a lot of value for your 20€, especially if you like casual adventure games that have some light Stardew Valley elements to it.

Marvel Snap
While I believe that Marvel Snap is one of the best card games out there, the company behind it, is slowly but steadily losing the plot hence a lot of people, myself included, started to give Marvel Snap negative reviews on Steam and on mobile storefronts.

There are multiple reasons why people give this game negative reviews but the most important one is the fact that card acquisition is awful. Secondly, there is no catch-up mechanic for new and returning players which makes it incredibly hard to catch up when four to five cards are being released each month.

How to get new cards

There are two ways to get newly released cards: You either spend keys on a chest and pray that you get lucky or you spend a certain number of tokens to buy the card.

You get keys by splitting cards which is the main progression system of Marvel Snap. For splitting cards, you need a resource called credits that you get from playing, from quests, weekly alliance payouts, Twitch drops or bundles that you can purchase with your actual money.

Using keys is usually good for new, and probably returning players as well, since you have a 25% chance to get the new card, about a 50% chance to get cards that you don’t own yet or variants for them if you own them already and another 25% chance to get a random reward which does not exclude cards that you already own. If you get unlucky and you pull a card that you already own from the random reward, you get a few tokens – which is actually the worst outcome of the chest system.

You can buy the new card, or a random series 4 and 5 card, straight up with tokens but you will need to spend at least 6000 tokens for the new card and you generally don’t get those tokens super easy.

If you spend money in Marvel Snap you can get tokens a bit easier since they are sometimes in bundles or you buy a couple of variants which reward you with tokens as well.

If you go the free2play route, you will have to think twice if you want to commit keys or tokens each week since both resources require you to grind.

How to get cards that you don’t own

Well, as described earlier you usually get them by either using keys or tokens but that’s something you only do in the mid and late game.

If you are a new player, you get cards relatively easy but those are limited to pool 1, 2 and 3 initially.

You get all of the pool 1 and 2 cards in chests every x levels on your CL and later on you will pull a random pool 3 card every four chests while you progress on your CL by splitting cards.
You can buy a random pool 3 card with tokens and you can choose one free pool 3 card a month in the shop as well.

Series Drops

What are series drops? Every now and then, usually like once a year or so, some cards drop a series down which essentially means that they are getting more accessible. Newly released cards are usually in series 4 and 5 while all pool 1 to 3 cards are series 1 – 3 which means that they are 100% free.

Now, you can imagine that it’s disappointing that series drops are seemingly mostly underwhelming which affects new and returning players the most.

Deadpool’s Diner vs. High Voltage

Deadpool’s Diner (DD) and High Voltage (HV) are game modes that are available for a limited time and they usually give you one new free series 4 or 5 card, some credits, tokens and cosmetic rewards which means that it’s pretty good, eh? Well kind of.

Deadpool’s Diner essentially plays the same as normal Marvel Snap rounds except that you play for bubs instead of cubes. Bubs are a resource that refills slowly and you kind of have to gamble during matches and pull out when you think you lose or your bubs are gone. It’s a high stakes high reward type game mode which is okay but something that isn’t okay is that you get reminded that you can just straight up use gold, which is a currency that you can buy for your actual money, to keep playing when you run out of bubs. Oh, and you need a ton of bubs to get the free series 4 or 5 card so if you get unlucky constantly or you misjudge the situation you might not be able to get the new card during the event.

High Voltage on the other hand just requires you to win matches and if you lose it doesn’t matter which made HV a very casual friendly game mode in which the amount of energy skyrockets which allows you to play the greediest and most energy depended decks imaginable. Apparently, some developers didn’t like that this game mode is so easy and rewarding which is why they thought about not continuing it.

Where is the problem?

The problem is that at some point you will just lack an absurd amount of cards considering that four to five new cards are being released on a monthly basis.

As a new player, especially if you’re somewhere in pool 1 to 3, you probably don’t care about this as much since you might buy one or two meta relevant pool 4 to 5 cards every couple of weeks but at some point, you will realize that missing cards is not a good thing especially when some cards are potentially meta-relevant.

If you get lucky and you feel like spending money, you might purchase a bundle that has a variant of a card that you don’t own yet which essentially allows you to use the variant as that card you were missing previously.

If you are a returning player and you want to come back to Marvel Snap after a couple of months, you will realize that you either have to grind to get resources that allows you to catch up somewhat okay-ish or you might realize that spending a couple of hundred bucks is a quicker option to do so.

I believe there should be a catch-up mechanic in the game that allows new and returning players to either get a few cards that have been out for quite some time for free or enough resources to skip ahead a couple of hundred levels on their CL or maybe some sort of CL boost?

    Pros
  • Fast matches
  • Relatively simple & straight forward gameplay
  • Awesome soundtrack that changes each season
  • Lots of variants to collect and / or purchase
  • Unique progression system
    Cons
  • No real catch-up mechanic for new and returning players
  • The way you get cards in general isn’t ideal & requires luck or grinding
  • Monetization gets worse and worse at this point
  • Series drops seem to be mostly underwhelming as of now
  • Devs would rather have low key monetized game modes than fun game modes
  • Devs don’t seem to listen to anyone & low key talk more than fix stuff
  • FOMO (fear of missing out)
My opinion

I changed my positive review to a negative one because it’s a shame that Marvel Snap is seemingly on a decline. I have fun playing the game and the gameplay itself is amazing but I don’t think I could recommend people to try out the game when I know that they will encounter a bunch of roadblocks further down the line which either makes them quit or makes them spend money to overcome said roadblocks.

I mentioned in my positive review that I would rather have a progression system that Marvel Snap has than feeling the need to spend a couple hundred Euros on card packs to stay relevant & in the loop but I did not consider that new & returning players will have it harder than I did when I started playing this game like a year ago. I had a somewhat easy time to catch up and I still don’t own all of the cards that were released around the time I started playing and believe me, I spend a couple of Euros on Marvel Snap as well and I lack resources to get every new card regardless if they’re good or bad.

It's a great game with a bunch of bad mechanics that will probably lead to its downfall.

I might change this review back to a positive one whenever the devs start to give a sh!t.
