So after the buying the gane it didn't start.

After some reading up I finally have it working.
Changed screen resolution to 1280x960 (*shrug*) and now it works.

First impression, annoyed, will update once played more.

So after launching luckily i can change my resolution back up to normal.
So far the intro cutscene looks great the sound is great as well.

But it hasn't made up for being more annoying to get to work than a retro game.

So after getting it to work It is quite fun, the various explaosions look great and I haven't encountered anything too annoying yet.
No bugs spotted so far and besides the stray slow freezing frame no performance issues.

I'd say at least to me the gameplay makes the hassle of getting it to work worth the while so I'll recommend it and update if anything changes.

I really likethe new grapple mechanics and the wing suit mechanics.

I actually got more than I expected.

2019, the changes and improvements made seem minimal, i pretyy much consider this project dead at this point. I had hopes for this despite pulling out.



Original 2015 Review:

Great potential.

But at current point in time unplayable and just straight up soul devouring to play.

My main point really is the walking and Ground movement combined with the very static fire spitting.

I hope it improves, i enjoy playing early access and i have high hopes for this Game.

ARK: Survival Evolved by far is one of my favorite games currently, from it's glorious Soundtrack to the textures and the models, this game is simply amazing.

For me it fulfills pretty much everything I look for in a good survival game, for example it's a grindy slow start but this slow difficult start is simply a Milestone to look back on, once oyu Progress you actually notice that this is what happaned, you learned to make better Tools and suddenly things are much easier, you made this new Piece of Equipment and suddenly you aren't sweating to death during a heat wave in the swamp.

While obviously this may turn some People away this slow start is important adjusting the game to have an easy start would simply lead to 0 pay off once you reach higher Levels, it would Strip the Feeling of pregression and reduce it to "oh yay... new stuff i dont need"

Honestly I've played this game in many ways, I started out on an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Server ALONE and made friends, teamed up with People and forged an alliance which evetually overthrew the current Alpha tribe which was mindlessly killing new Players and beyond that then made sure new Players could actually start and survive.
Well then russians came after a few months and yeah.

Now after my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Server experience i went on to unofficial Servers and experienced unmodded and modded Servers alone, making friends on those Servers and working together with People.

And now?
Now i'm playing with friends on a Center primitive plus Server and am planning my return to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Servers, once i find the right Server.

-There's obviously bugs in an EA release
-the largest part of optimization will probably be done last.

Third Major revamp of this Reviews style.
Started out as a Story of overthrowing a tyranical tribe dominating a Server and forming an alliance to Keep the peace then got rewritten into a pro and con list of some of the games aspects i enjoy and now this just me pretty much summing up my ARK experience.

When i preorderd it i thought it's a sequel.
When i started it i was confused.

When i played it i got addicted.
can't write, need to play more.

this game is amazing

From the concept toexecution it is definitely one of the best current team based fps games.
Not in graphics or being revolutionary, but simply based on fun level and enjoyment.
