I can't join games anymore after CS2 release. All games I join are filled with bots and they instantly kick us. What happened to Valve's iconic anti-cheat and anti-bot system?

I always found myself trying to attack to the beat in games like Devil May Cry. In this game, that's what you do. The commitment to being on beat to the tracks is astounding, with attacks, level geometry, puzzles, and even the footsteps of characters matching the beat of the music. The sound choices are also pretty neat, with none of them feeling out-of-place. There's also an alternative soundtrack that can be chosen for royalty-free streaming, and it offers similarly-structured songs, but with alternate chord progression and inverse lyrics. The music is usually used to convey the villain's perspectives, but the streamer-mode songs convey your perspective, and some of them sound better, like Captive Normals instead of Free Radicals. The story is also extremely silly, with characters feeling like real people while also having the cartoon feel to it.

The animation department really did the best job they could possibly do, with elements of 2D and 3D animation being used and seamless transitions between them.

There's also a lot of post-game content, too, with three different post-game arenas with different twists to them with a bloody palace mode, a surive as long as possible mode, and a bloody-palace like mode with buffs and debuffs.

You're not going to be bored for awhile if you get this

Honestly, this feels like what they wanted to do for Watch_Dogs 3 before Ubisoft crammed in the "play as anyone" feature. The story-telling is top-notch, and it's a great sendoff (for now) to our fan-favorite characters. However, I'd give it a 7/10 since character development (at least for Wrench) seems to be rushed due to the nature of it being a DLC with a shorter amount of content and the basegame mechanics lacking the iconic phone feature and many of the series' iconic hacks. Honestly, if it's on sale, get the game just for this DLC if you liked the first two games. It's pretty worth it.

I do hope to see Wrench and his gang again someday, but it's very unlikely due to how much they botched the landing with the base game.

I haven't loved a game in this way since the PS2 era. The soundtrack is amazing, the moments are memorable, the story is fun, and the open-world is a bonus, albeit I don't find myself using it too often. I wish it had a new-game plus so I could experience the story over-and-over-and-over with a full arsenal. The third mission of this game might be one of the most fun times I've had playing a game in decades. There's RTS elements, and they're not the best, but they're still enjoyable when you can jump onto the battlefield and interact with your soldiers to make themselves and you more powerful while heavy metal music from every conceivable genre assaults your ears and makes it even more awesome. They've also got a surprising amount of cameos from legends of metal, from Motorhead's Limmy Killmeister to the guy from Def Leopard, to the human mutant of metal, Ozzy Osbourne, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Oftentimes the enjoyment of already awesome moments is enhanced by who you're going to see next. Sadly, a lot of musicians that they wanted declined, like Dio, but that doesn't make the game any less awesome, as the replacements are still legends of their own right, like Tim Curry replacing Dio, who, while not a metal legend, has slayed every moment of stage, film, and voice acting he's ever touched.

Please, play this game. You won't regret it . . . unless you don't like metal music. In that case, you scare me

This is what everyone thought DmC would he when it was announced. There's so much edge that this becomes insanely laughable throughout its entirety.

Vergil is also extremely clunky and downright weaker than Dante in every conceivable way, to the point that he's not fun to play as at all.

DmC Devil May Cry was a decision made by Capcom to reboot the Devil May Cry series when Devil May Cry 4 didn't meet their projected sales. The idea was to reboot it to appeal to a primarily American audience, much like they were attempting with other reboots so that they could grow the franchise. The result was a mixed bag among fans. After playing through all of the prior DMC games, excluding 2, as I'm planning to play it last, I understand the fear that players were going through, especially since they were expecting this to replace the original series and for the questions and setups created by Devil May Cry 4 never to be finished. No matter if that's what Capcom was planning or not, we ended up getting a Devil May Cry 5 from the funding of this game. So, knowing that this didn't replace the original series, I believe that this game was reviewed a little too harshly.

This game, unironically, has two of the most creative levels I have ever seen in a video game, and I recommend buying this just to see those two levels. I won't spoil them, but I will say that if you have any experience with epileptic seizures, then you should avoid this game at all costs. Traversal is more fun than it's ever been in the series, with Dante having the ability to glide and grapple hook around levels, and even use the grapple hook to pull platforms. There were challenge missions based around traversal that I had no issues with due to how smooth it is to traverse around them. The iconic backtracking of the series, where the player could return to previous areas unless the path behind was destroyed (often signalling an important boss fight coming up) is missing from this game, but you still have the ability to replay prior levels if you need to grind to get more powerful for a boss fight, although I didn't find them to be too hard in this game, as they were mostly easy to read and dodge if you know what you're doing.

The story's okay, but quite a few scenes are filled with a very cringe-inducing amount of profanity, but it's very easy to shift past, for the most part, as it can be pretty funny in some occasions. There are a few cutscenes present that are extremely cringe-inducing, seeming to think that including sex randomly makes the game more mature (I don't hate sex scenes, but one in the middle of this game is extremely out of place in this game), but they can be skipped since the cringey cutscenes provode literally no exposition.

The combat itself might be the smoothest any Devil May Cry has had, being extremely streamlined for easy combos, but the placement of the dodge buttons on controller (bumpers) are a little distracting since they're above the triggers, which are used to keep your non-sword weapons active. The use of holding buttons to change between three weapons is very creative, and prevents the spamming of one button, like in DMC4 and DMC5, to swap between several weapons to get what you want. There's a controversial feature among fans where a few enemies (who appear more in later difficulties) present in the game can only be harmed by one type of weapon (angellic/demonic), and they tend to throw multiple of them at you at once, which kinda sucks, but they didn't get in the way of my overall enjoyment (will update this when I finish the other difficulties)

Overall, this is one of the most creative games I've ever played, and I'm glad I played it, but it's certainly NOT Devil May Cry.

Game crashed after beating a boss fight and then when I relaunched it, the game got permanently locked to 22 FPS instead of the 31FPS default. Now it's barely playable. Tried the community 60fps patch, but it's not working. Thought it might be my hardware, but my hardware is well above the hardware limitations, outside of being Windows 10 instead of Windows 7

A very fun Sherlock Holmes story. Sherlock seems to be a little out of character, but that's in part due to the Doyle estate keeping the rights to Sherlock Holmes personality and the nature of the mystery itself. Some puzzles are very hard, but there's always a skip puzzle option, which I found myself accidentally pressing a few times due to my controller's sensitive triggers.

I'm lazy, so I'll list a few things

Pros
+ Sherlock ****ing Holmes
+ Developed by fans of the novels
+ Fun puzzles
+ Controller support
+ Heartwarming ending
+ Deduction Board mechanic allows the player to feel smarter
+ Very beautiful graphically

Cons
- Tech issues. Although I only experienced one major one, where the game crashed during one autosave after a loading screen
- Lip sync is not synced (could this be due to wrong graphical settings?)
- Occasional grey void flickering in some areas
- Story builds up Sherlock as evil for the first half, and makes the player believe it instead of placing pieces that allow them to deduce the reality, although smart people can deduce the rest of the elements of the mystery
- No controller support in the main menu. You need to use your mouse to start the game, then you can do the controller stuff
- Animations in a few places are very amateur

Neutural
- Takes place in its own universe. I haven't played the other games, but it's very unclear when this takes place within Doyle's timeline, if it does at all. Other classic adventures from the books and prior games are referenced
- Watson is no longer a lovecraftian horror capable of omnipresence and teleportation
- Sherlock never wears his Deerstalker
- When searching is involved in a puzzle, you can find the needed items because they tend to have higher resolution textures and don't have the baked shadows that the rest of the map has.
- One puzzle is slightly ruined if you understand tech limitations, as you know it's more likely to return to a common area than it is to create a new one entirely, although there's still fun in the puzzle

Overall, it's still a good story despite these issues, and I recommend any Holmes fans to check it out.

Very simple game where you vibe, explore, vandalize, and talk to people. Has some low-brow humor, but I still thought it was funny.
