Neat adventure game. Great balance of story, combat, traversing the environment and climbing huge structures.
I played Lugaru a few years back, definitely a great game. All of the characters being animals walking on two legs and the big arenas with all these mythical and surreal structures really stuck with me and I was looking forward to this worthy sequel.
I played through both games on medium difficulty, first one felt challenging enough, just right. Many fights in the second game, when I got my hands on the big sword, I disposed of boss enemies in like 10 seconds flat, which didn't feel very rewarding. When I replay, I'll go for the hard difficulty. In each climbing level, there was one spot where I couldn't progress for multiple minutes, having to time certain jumps at the perfect frame was a bit frustrating to be honest.
The dialogue is pretty decent. Writers definitely put a lot of thought into the characters and dynamics between the races, as well as have some vague aspects of history and religion sprinkled in here and there. Nothing all too memorable, but I'd say I felt immersed.
Overall, you get your money's worth out of getting this game. You can play through the story of Lugaru HD and receive a free copy of Receiver as well, a game I have some fond memories of, a truly unique, insanely difficult first person shooter.

I can see why people dislike the game and recent series in general, though all I can say is, when I played, I almost always enjoyed myself. Campaign was entertaining, MP is mostly same old CoD, and even though I preferred OG Warzone, all the new stuff provides lots of places to discover and tactics to be mastered. Really like the weapon customization, not too overloaded, but the way you can give your favorite gun a unique twist, as well as save all your modifications for your other loadouts, for me personally, is the peak version of the CoD Gunsmith.

Okay, let's be real. Playing Among Us in 2022 is cringe af. But you know how the VR elitists are, always needing their fix, so I'd be lying, if I said this game wasn't fun. They ported the tasks pretty nicely into VR, lurking in the vents feels pretty cool as well. Best part about this version is the proximity voice chat outside of meetings though, honestly to me personally this was something that always felt off about the original.
I enjoy these social deduction games and this one somehow tickles all the right parts of my monkey brain. After I've grown kinda tired of Pavlov TTT, this is quite the nice alternative and since it's made for the Quest, this will likely run on a potato, too. If there was a way to not have toddlers scream into your ear, I wouldn't have anything negative to say about this game, but muting them is a valid option, I guess.
For eight bucks it's slightly overpriced in its current state, but show me any new game release that's complete nowadays lul.
I'll definitely be checking out the next updates, for now the one map's unfortunately gotta do it.

tl;dr: Fun in the beginning, frustrating grind afterwards

Well, what can I say? Really enjoyed playing during the first season. There was lots of stuff to discover and goals to be reached. Progression felt somewhat slow, but was there. Gotta say though, in the second, having to start all over again, investing days and weeks just to get to the point I was at the end of the first season, was simply no fun anymore. New stuff could only be accessed, if you grind all the old ♥♥♥♥ again. I caught myself only logging in for the free currency, thinking 'Yeah, next time I'll be playing a few rounds.', but there is simply nothing rewarding or motivating about it anymore. Not even going too deep in performance issues, since I'm not entirely sure how it runs on other people's PCs with my stats. But the issues I had were horrendous, from consistently dropping frames to crashes to losing all my stuff, because the game freezes for 5+ seconds in the middle of combat. Unacceptable, nor playable in this kind of game.
The game is doomed to die, if the only thing keeping it alive is hardcore players, that don't play anything but this game or new players, that will soon have the same realization I had.

My positive, old review (Season 1)
Great, free alternative to Escape from Tarkov (which is significantly more complex) for people with smoother brains and empty pockets.
It's fun and rewarding to complete the faction's missions and unlock stronger gear in the process.
The PvE is rather easy once you get the hang of it, while unfortunately the PvP can feel extremely annoying, with high-level gear people camping on extraction sites or other points of interest, you need to get to, if you wanna progress. Many aggressive players, but also some nice people to team up with.
The thing is like the least about The Cycle is undoubtedly the sound design, especially directional sound... which is pretty much non-existent. No point in trying to use sound to pinpoint the location of another player, as it's simply not possible in the current state of the game. Hopefully this will get some work in the future.
But other than that, I'm enjoying myself most of the time. The map is absolutely beautiful, weapons look and sound unique, lots of customizability (gameplay-wise), as well as premium skins for guns and your character. You're even consistently given premium currency for absolutely free, which you don't see too often in other games.
Definitely excited to see, how this game is going to evolve.

At first glance, Dorfromantik seems pretty basic. You place tiny hexagons on an infinite board, and you can get more tiles to place by following the game's rule set.
Though after just a few minutes of screwing around, you start to realize there is a lot of thought and organizing, that has to go into your playstyle, if you want to achieve a higher score. It's weirdly challenging and relaxing at the same time.
When putting every single tile perfectly, you can even go on without ever getting a game over. Here and there some small gaps start showing up, for which you haven't been getting the right tile yet, and I gotta say it's honestly so satisfying to get that specific one, you've been waiting for your entire run to finally fill in the gap.
Though even, if you don't put a lot of effort in, you can still have a great time, building a cute village. Alternatively, you're also free to just build tiny cities in creative mode to go full Zen, and just construct a beautiful landscape or play a quick round with a limited amount of tiles.
The soundtrack is just beautiful, perfect to relax or drift off for a little while.
I'm very glad, I got this, when it released in Early Access, because of how cool it was to watch this game evolve to what it is now on 1.0 release.

Highly recommended for anyone that just wants to wind down in these strange times that we live in.

Pavlov makes up one third of my time spent in VR and after having played CS:GO and TF2 for numerous hours in the past, I didn't think another game would ever get me as hooked, but it did. The base game already offers lots of fun to be had, with easy controls, beautiful models and nice sound design, perfect for immersion. Though, combined with community content, like maps, mods and gamemodes, there is constantly so much new content, you pretty much won't ever get bored. Regarding the playerbase, it's decently sized and except for a small percentage of toxic degenerates, people are very friendly. Since I started playing, my friendslist has somehow doubled in size, because of how many fine people I got to know while playing random servers. At times this even feels like a better chatroom than VRChat or RecRoom.

Anyway, absolute must-have for any VR player, who enjoys FPS

I'm not the greatest fan of survival games, especially ones that feel incredibly hard to beat. I'm not really sure why, but this one is different.
You start off in the safety of your home, in which you can stay as long as you please, but unfortunately you only have very limited supplies, so you venture out into the unknown. Chances are you see your adversaries as soon as you leave your place and with no weapons to defend yourself, it's pretty much suicide to try and take on more than one at the time. So you sneak through the neighborhood and loot houses for anything useful your pockets can carry, all the while trying to stay fed and hydrated, and especially unharmed. Then, as soon as night falls, anxiety rises, and the safest call is to head back to your starting house, to sleep in relative safety. "That didn't go to bad.", you think to yourself and get cocky, trying to take on a group of zombies with your newly found pride and a trusty weapon on your hip. They overwhelm you.
The next time, you're scavenging a house, like you did before. While you're looking through a cabinet, a zombie sneaks up on you, no physical protection to save you, getting bitten, sealing your fate.
New survivor, new dice roll. Unfortunately you spawn in a farm house in the middle of freaking nowhere, up to you to decide in which direction, there is civilization, make the wrong call and you run into the wrong direction, getting exhausted, thirsty and unable to survive, make the right call, you might get surprised in the woods and die once more.

That's the point you realize, you're no hero in this game, nothing more than a regular Joe, trying not to die. And that's what you're gonna do. Over and over. A lot. But every single time, you get smarter and know what to look out for in the future, and you are going to keep breaking your record of surviving. Though in the end, you're only prolonging the inevitable. Until one day you got your entirely fenced-in base, self sufficient with power, crops and rain collectors, the world outside, yours for the taking. That is, of course, until you make a small mistake, one that kills you once more.
But that's the thing, you can literally do whatever you imagine, you would in the zombie apocalypse, as there are basically no boundaries on what you can achieve, if you just try hard enough. Sometimes it feels more like a convincing simulation, than a regular survival game. Probably what makes it so incredibly unique in my eyes.

Everyone knows about the legendary status of the Half-Life franchise and Valve as a game development company in general. Considering this, I think it takes an immense amount of courage, making it your goal to not only refine one of the most important games ever made, but build upon it, making the world feel even more alive and ever evolving. Honestly, I don't think Half-Life has aged too well, especially when it comes to graphics. They feel extremely dated and almost made me quit playing many years ago. Gameplay-wise, it has always been top notch, which is why Crowbar Collective focused mostly on visuals and map layouts. Another thing that really stuck with me was the sound design and especially how they managed to get a Half-Life 2 soundtrack vibe into this game. It really makes you feel like you're the hero in this adrenaline-fueled action movie. And oh boy, did they nail Xen. When I entered, I almost couldn't believe how stunning everything looked, absolutely beautiful visuals.
All in all, this project is probably one of the most ambitious remakes in video game history and, with 16 years in development, it was definitely worth the weight. Highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys Valve's games or great story-driven first person shooters in general, especially, if you haven't played Half-Life in the past. Can't go wrong with this masterpiece.
