I'm serious. Story wise, you want to experience everything for the first time. You will be happier for it.

Therefore, instead of going through pros and cons (everyone else lists these abundantly already), I will simply add my two cents to the more important issues with the game. You have probably heard about a couple of these if you have researched the game somewhat.

Performance issues and lack of updates: I can't really help much there, since I was one of the lucky few who managed to get through the game almost without a hitch. Only hit a crash on one specific area, and it was easily avoidable when I noticed what caused it. However, there are a ton of guides around to help you if you have problems.

Controller/Keyboard&Mouse viability: I used keyboard and mouse. It was not perfect, but is completely doable, even though you can tell certain sections are designed with a controller in mind. For the shmup sections where you feel that the mouse is hindering you in every way: use melee attacks.
