Chaos Village is a simple multi-directional shooter with essentially one game mode. Achievement seekers will enjoy a straightforward set of level up and completion achievements, but beyond that, there's nothing much to do here.

Pros
+ Upgrades: Perks & Powerups
+ Large number of weapons to unlock
+ Destructible environments

Cons
- All stages are the same, apart from lighting & randomized objects
- Once you unlock a weapon it's forever in the pool, and supply is total RNG
- Very few enemy types
- You can only equip 4 perks, rendering extra unlocks meaningless
- There's no leaderboards, so there's no motivation to play Survival.
- No multiplayer
- Low replay-ability
- 1 hour gameplay

Besides all of the above, the biggest problem with this game is weapon imbalances. Once you unlock a weapon it's forever in the pool, unless you reset your progress. This means that you'll be enslaved to whatever RNG chooses in your supply crates, and most stages aren't long enough to give you more than two chances. My advice? Only get Machino, ignore everything else.

Achievement Hunters: I had a a lot of difficulty to actually unlock the stage achievements. Ultimately I was forced to roll back to an older depot [5289314197598811989] to complete them. Some award when they should, others won't pop until you go back to main menu. If nothing works, exit the game, complete the missing level, then return to main menu again. I may not have tested the latest patch long enough, so use that as a last resort.

If you're looking for a new Rust or 7 Days to Die, this is not it. Axe:Survival is a low effort attempt to make a barely passable game. Don't buy this unless you are an achievement hunter or the game gets massively upgraded from the time this review was posted.

Pros
+ Open World
+ Basic crafting & base building
+ Multiple weapon types (guns) are findable in the map
+ Respawn to map starting point on death, only lose your items, but continue on same Day

Cons
- No tutorial. Prepare for trial and error and maybe a few deaths
- No clock. When does the Day start and end? How long is a day? I still don't know
- No objectives. Survive to day 30 and get on your ship. That's it.
- No map marker. Rotating minimap is all you have - compare shapes and colors to main map to figure it out
- Monotonous combat - walk backwards clicking attack to kill everything effortlessly
- No variety in enemy types - they look different, but all act the same
- Only one source of water? The Lake - so expect to camp there almost entirely
- Stock assets, low poly, bland textures. Comes off as minimal effort everywhere.
- You're from space but you look and act like a caveman? Plot is non-existent

Suffice to say this game will only be played by achievement hunters. Just get to Day 30, and you've unlocked 100%. No need to do anything else. Spoiler: Getting on the ship treats you to a cutscene of it taking off. No ending, no credits. Only back to main menu.

Looks like the developer has a new game out under a marginally different studio name, aiming to resemble ARK. Buyer beware.

I'll be happy to revise my review if the game gets a major overhaul. Until then: avoid.

Something between a puzzle game and an artistic study, Back to Bed blends the two for a uniquely looking, but otherwise commonplace, brain teaser. Guide the narcoleptic Bob to his bed across 30 total stages, then do it again in "Nightmare" mode, which requires you to take tricky alternate routes you'd normally avoid. It sports some fair achievement challenges, too.

Pros
+ Surreal artistic style blending the works of Magritte, Dali, and Escher
+ Smattering of story cutscenes to punctuate play
+ Simple, intuitive controls
+ Arguably well chosen achievements pad a couple replays

Cons
- Short: there's even an achievement for completing the regular 30 stages in <45min, which is generous
- Despite its eye catching design, there isn't much use of optical illusions or perceptual tricks
- The music is wearisome during your repeated playthroughs
- Beyond the achievements, nothing to come back to

Casual puzzle fans will find something to like here, and achievement hunters will be kept busy with the speedrun challenge, among other things. There was a real opportunity to make a more challenging puzzle game using impossible perspectives, but Bob sticks to traditional isometric paths and only turns right all the time. There's likewise just a handful of enemy obstacles that don't vary much at all in behavior, making for somewhat monotonous gameplay start to finish. In short, grab it on sale, if at all.

Achievement Hunters: The objectives are clearly spelled out in the descriptions. Just remember to do the speedrun in one sitting - don't close the window, it doesn't save session. Elitist can be unlocked with system time change. Assuming you get speedrun during the first playthrough, estimated ~3hrs to complete.

Bookend is a digital toy of sorts, presented as a pop-up book story. There appears to be only one ending, and nothing you can do to influence it. Takes a little less than 10 minutes to complete.

If you have a VR headset, check out the Oculus version[www.oculus.com] for the best experience.

This digital version of the board game by the same name improves on it, offering online and local play, two minigames, the ability to pause anytime, and an abbreviated mode with randomized win conditions for quick-play.

Pros
+ Simple to learn
+ Nice graphics, presentation
+ Randomized events & luck-based elements make no two games the same
+ Skill based minigames add variety
+ Great for all ages

Cons
- After a couple games it can become repetitive
- Viewing the board is awkward, can only be done at start of turn, and can't change angle
- Minigames are great, but two is too few
- The AI is too easy to beat in minigames
- You need a lot of luck to pull off 6+ children achievement

The game is simple: Pick a career, roll the spinner, and make a series of choices along the way (paths, home purchase/sale, re-roll career, try to have children). Ultimately, though, your success or failure will be up to chance. There is a mild element of strategy here if you play against other people, since your final score is the sum of a number of choices you can make.

Fans of the board game will appreciate this digital upgrade, and the ability to play with friends or relatives online. If you're looking for wholesome entertainment for children, this is a great pick.

Achievement Hunters: Pretty easy to 100%, but note the following: First, only the host credits achievement unlocks. Even if you play a local game, 1P must meet the requirements to earn it. Second, the children achievement requires 6 or more ("over 5"), and this is very RNG dependent. Look at the board tiles and restart if you don't have it after you pass all chances to add children. All achievements can be unlocked in solo play. For fastest time, only add one AI opponent. Good luck!

Ah, Love! is a simple sliding block puzzle with a twist - you manipulate the board to control objects inside, and guide them to meet. It's complicated by unmovable blocks, spikes, and an enemy to avoid. Fans of simple puzzle games will find a lot of content here across 120 levels and optional challenges for two extra achievements.

Pros
+One button controls
+Simple, intuitive gameplay
+Genuinely challenging if you aim for level pars
+Level editor to make your own puzzles

Cons
-Music gets old quick
-Repetitive levels, majority of the game is familiar mazes
-Stock asset design (gamemaker studio?)

Unlike many of the cheap achievement games on steam, this one has sizable content for a minimum price. Not only that, the developer improved the game from its initial release. Now included are a cycling backgrounds, a level editor, and two specific challenges for applicable levels: Complete the level in a limited number of moves, and complete certain levels on specific pink tiles, the latter of which requires often more challenging routes to achieve.

My biggest complaint would be having to replay cleared levels after the challenges were implemented, since it doesn't save your "best scores" for cleared levels. This won't apply to new players.

Achievement hunters: Completion achievements, but not super easy. Scouting the minimal move solutions will add substantial hours to your playtime. 10+ hours is my estimate not including idle time.

If you are a fan of board game strategy, then Hero Academy was worth trying. With multiple teams to choose from, each with unique abilities, and slightly varying stages, you had many strategic options open to you. Players took turns inputting 5 actions which involved unit placement, attacks, equipment, or reshuffling the deck. There was no single player campaign, just puzzles that test your understanding of the game's various mechanics.

The biggest problem with Academy is that there was no forced time limit - so you could wait hours to days for opponent responses. To mitigate that, it allowed up to 40 simultaneous matches against whomever you chose. And it featured cross play, so it was very mobile friendly.

Why the past tense? Because the game is already removed from storefront and will be shutting down shortly.

If you haven't completed the achievements, you better hurry. Protip: only 4 turns are needed to credit towards a win. With the limited time remaining, this is the only way to finish 50 wins per faction quickly.

Forge is a browser-based game ported to steam and mobile devices. In the context of Facebook or Kongregate, it was a satisfactory grind game to kill time, but is little more than a background idling game for desktop PC users.

Pros
+ Decent artwork, music, sfx
+ Guild system rewards cooperative play
+ Your army's placement affects abilities; elements of strategy
+ Some rare monsters are grindable from stages, not just lootbox locked
+ PVP element, battle other players' armies for rewards

Cons
- Heavily RNG dependent; Best creatures can only be summoned, and you need dozens of the same to upgrade
- Repetitive to a fault; the same stages, tiles, music, and sounds will get old fast.
- Newer levels don't add anything original: the same mobs with higher stats.
- Stages don't scale with XP rewards, and XP is cut 30% until down to 1. Meaning, you can't farm rank after a certain point, and can only level via missions and guild raids/bosses.
- Next to no plot; forgettable

To be fair, this game is adequate. It's meant to be a time-waster and something you invest 30 minutes over a long time. It has cash pay elements (now disabled) that clearly favored pay2win, but was not necessary to play. There was no end goal beyond trying to maximize every creature in your army, and no conclusion to the game's content. I found it a chore to play.

If you're reading this for the first time, don't start the game: Support has been stopped.
If you're an existing player or achievement hunter, this may be your last chance to finish.
(It could go offline any day, but no one knows)
At minimum, around 500 hours to 100%.

Full Game Video Walkthrough here

If you're reading this you've probably played ZUP or the previous OIKs. Yes, it's still the same GameMaker physics game that unlocks quintuple achievements per level. While there is nothing new to the series here, I am voting this one up because the levels are actually challenging for a change. Time and consideration went into the design, and it shows.

As for the negatives, well, 1-2 hours tops gameplay. Little to no replayability. Some people say that the games have RNG. This isn't true in my experience. Once objects are in momentum, fractions of a second can completely change the result. If you use a stopwatch (or landmarks), you will produce repeatable results.

Grab the DLC if you'd like 20 extra levels. There's no reward, but it's a great value added bonus.

Achievement hunters: Once again, completion is not required, only level unlocks. Open level 60, and that's 100%.

RGB Run forces you to press forward in repeating corridors for 50 stages. Other than +7 achievements for your profile, it doesn't provide much lasting value. Since steam forces a rating, I don't recommend this unless you are an achievement hunter.

Pros
+ Contains real challenge. I guarantee you will fail certain levels repeatedly.
+ Completion based 100%, no searching required
+ Levels vary the challenge with sequences, changing orders, and even delayed instructions
+ Simple enough to pick up and play

Cons
- 1 hour of gameplay. No repeatability.
- Stage solutions are a set path, so you don't actually have to memorize the color sequence. Granted, if they weren't, the game would possibly be too frustrating.
- Control inversion. There's no problem with this concept, but it is VERY counter-intuitive if you use the keyboard and mouse to turn. You have maybe one second to react, and if you fail, back to the beginning of the stage. There is no way to practice the controls before the run. And worst of all, there is no clear indicator other than an intrusive on screen set of arrows that flash for a split second, and don't even look different when they revert. If you don't have a lot of patience, this might make you rage quit.
- On the topic of mouse, the camera control can be frustrating. If you turn too quickly, you're looking at completely black walls and lose all sense of direction. This is even worse if you your camera isn't facing forward when you run to the end of a corridor, because you have maybe a second to figure out which way is forward before the spikes catch you and reset the run.
- The game is 600+ meg download, almost 1 gig extracted. But it's just repeating corridors with three colors. Couldn't it have a smaller footprint?
- It looks and feels like a stock asset game.

The trick to completing this game is NOT using the mouse. Yes, that's right - especially when controls become inverted, mouse movement becomes disorienting and very difficult to focus forward. I recommend you only use WASD and nothing else, and save yourself the hour it took me to discover this.
