Early Access-recension
The release of this game is one of the best things to happen in 2020 (Yes I know it just released on Steam in April 2021, but it came out for Android and web versions last November). Before I actually dip into my review I'd like to say that while this game is still Early Access it is very much playable, and enjoyable. The Early Access tag is mostly because the game is still being developed and filled out by the solo developer and may still be missing some key elements for the game's overall plan, but the dev gives constant updates on upcoming content, and is very transparent about his priorities for moving the game forward.

What is so good about this game?
  • This game is free to play. At the end of the day, I am not you so I can't tell you whether or not you will like this game, but since it's free you don't need to take my word for it, you can go play it yourself for free. There is NO content locked behind payment. That being said, there is a micro-transaction shop where you can spend a reasonable amount of money to get helpful buffs. These buffs give you good bang for your buck, but are by no means required to play the game or play it well. On top of that, the dev has included multiple ways in game to get the premium currency just by playing (Steam achievements, bosses, minigames, etc.) so if you don't have the means to drop a few bucks to get some perks you can still slowly unlock them just by playing.

  • Clear, meaningful progression. Have you ever been hours into a game and not really known what you should be focusing on next? This game has clear map progression, skill progression, and quest-chain progression which keep you moving towards clear goals to advance your characters. As of writing this there are only 2 worlds and 6 skills currently implemented with another world and 3 skills to be released within a month hopefully. With the total of 8 worlds and 24 skills planned you can clearly see how there will be fresh content for a long time to come, and all of this content will build off of and improve the existing worlds and skills. Even the smaller updates that have come out introduce new crafting recipes or small buffs/balancing changes which make the game more intuitive and rewarding.

  • Amazing graphics, and cool sounds. I've played this game since alpha, as well as the dev's other big game, Idle Skilling (not on PC) and his art style has always been fun and lively. The animations of monsters and NPCs combined with well designed maps and diverse items keep the game fresh and make it more than just a game, an experience. One of the best additions to the game was sound, which wasn't added until around the release of the steam version. Having played the game for months with no sound I was concerned that I wouldn't like what sound was added, but I've never been so wrong in my life. The music is simple, but purely enhances the game, and the other sound effects fit perfectly in their individual roles.

  • Active community and player base This game is very new to steam, so the community here isn't as established yet, but the discord has over 38,000 members and is a very fun, helpful place to learn or interact with other players. The dev actually has a presence in the discord, with polls and previews about content, as well as a place for players to input suggestions for new content or balancing. Additionally, the game has guilds, where the whole guild gets better and better buffs as well as free loot just from everyone playing the game as they normally would.

  • Different take on the idle genre This game uses idling to decrease the amount of grinding MMOs generally have. If you need x amount of a resource you can "actively" grind it, by having the game open and having one of your characters collecting the resource on screen, either automatically or manually. Alternatively you can just send your character to collect and then switch to a different character and do something else, or close the game entirely. You get less loot this way, but still enough to meaningfully progress, with no worry about investing all of your time into one specific task.

Some things to remember before playing
  • This game is not finished, it is still being developed and likely will continue to be for several years at least. The dev is largely working by himself as of writing this, but the content has the quality of a full team.

  • This game is an MMO, but it's mostly singleplayer content(currently). Expansion of multiplayer content is planned and some exists already, but it won't really feel like an MMO for a while. You can see other players on the same map as you, join a guild, add friends, and chat with your map or guild, but parties, raids, dungeons, etc. are not currently in the game.

  • This game is more than just an idle game or an MMO, it's a management game. The biggest mechanic of the game is managing your multiple characters to level up classes, gather resources, craft, or get better at specific skills. There are multiple different sources of adjustable buffs to set for each character to help them maximize their efficiency in their field. As of now this management proves a bit time consuming and inefficient, but the dev has expressed that he will be addressing this increasing complexity in new worlds, as more character slots are introduced.

Some parting thoughts
As I said towards the beginning, I can't tell you if you will enjoy this game or not, but I can tell you that I do. A lot. My steam hours don't represent the months I have played on the web version (your save syncs between all platforms by the way), but this game is currently one of my favorites to play, and it's FREE so download and try it for yourself. The dev pays attention to what people say about the game, has a good sense of humor, and constantly tries to add new content that keeps players engaged and excited about what is to come. Yes, it is influenced by other games like Maplestory, but it is a unique, fun game that deserves a chance to make an impact on you.

TL;DR It's a free game that could easily be a either chill game or a tryhard game for you. Do yourself a favor and give it a try.

One of the greatest survival games I've ever played. This title may be Don't Starve, but (trust me on this) there are many other ways to die. There's always more to craft, more to explore, more to kill.
10/10 Played for 52 hours straight the day I bought it
