Black Mesa is a Valve level of quality remake of Half-Life, and every fan of the franchise, or newcomer to it, should give it a play. It fleshes out the story of Half-Life 1, and feels like a more natural transition to Half-Life 2 and the episodes. I can't sing the praises of Crowbar Collective enough. The added changes to Xen as well make this far more than just a simple remake or re-imagining. This game is fantastic, and definitely filled the void that a Half-Life 3 has left in my heart. Also the workshop support is fantastic, with tons of worthwhile mods to get oodles of replayability from. I have 500+ hours in it for a reason, but that also may be because i'm OBSESSED with Half-Life. Thank you for this game Crowbar Collective. <3

Thankfully Valve has made Casual playable again. The bots, at least for now are gone. The only thing I desire more from TF2 now, is more palpable content updates. Balance changed would be nice, and new weapons. Maps and hats only add so much to the game. Overall, it's a masterpiece, and playable again, but still remain cautious.

Early Access Review
Alright, The Forest is one of my FAVORITE games ever, and so far I have 60 hours in Sons.
Pretty much exactly what I expected from a sequel to The Forest. I think the game being put into early access was for the best, because there's still A LOT that needs polished, and added to the game. I trust Endnight in this regard though, as they had The Forest in a very similar state when that released, and slowly built it to the phenomenal state it is now. That being said, here's some things I thought about Sons.
Firstly, the game looks breathtakingly beautiful, and is a vast improvement graphically from The Forest. I am running an i7 3770, and a GTX 1060 6GB, and while obviously not built to deal with modern games such as this, with some tweaking of the settings, I got it to play reasonably well whilst still looking good. I will always praise Endnight for their optimization of The Forest, and it seems they're prioritizing it just as much for Sons.
the controls are ported almost directly from The Forest, and it feels very similar, but I like that. The new building mechanic is a lot more engaging, and a lot more fun too. That was my favorite new aspect of the game. The guns are a great addition that I always felt was lacking from The Forest, but i'm very glad they still limited how many guns there are, and how much ammo you get. The companions are fun, but I think they need some expansion in the coming updates (I wish I could give them weapons like spears or axes). I do miss Armsy, Cowmen, Virginias, The Worm, and Megan to fight, but the new creepy mutants are still pretty fun, and engaging. I do miss a few things from The Forest, like stone walls, rafts, big gardens, double stack storage containers, and many other minor things, but I trust that these will be added in down the line.
My biggest gripe honestly was the story, or lack there of in reality. I know it's early access, so in reality, I get it and wasn't expecting anything huge, but I wish the endgame had more payoff. Endnight are masters of environmental storytelling, and that still stands true in this game, but the ending definitely felt rushed. I don't want to get into spoilers, but I must say motivation for certain characters in the plot was never explained, or elaborated on, and you feel as if you accidentally bump into the plot near the end.
The only unforgivable sin so far is not being able to fight The Blob. C'mon guys, I've been wanting my Blob boss fight since seeing one in the observation room of The Forest, and the trailer for Sons teased it so hard. Then bam, it's just a cutscene. That one hurt.
Jokes aside, overall, fantastic game so far. Gonna keep playing it for years, and I look forward to seeing where it goes!

So, i've held a chip on my shoulder for a long time about HLA. I didn't like the fact that Valve made it instead of Half Life 3, I didn't like that they made the newest Half Life exclusive to VR, and I didn't like the overwhelmingly positive praise it got upon release. Safe to say I had a bias. I tried to play it a couple years ago, but mainly because of hardware issues, I just couldn't properly play the game, and declared it overhyped, and left it at that.
Fast forward to 2022, and I had just beaten Half Life 2 VR Mod. Wonderful mod, highly reccomend, but the point is I got interested in giving Alyx another chance again. I actually gave it a fresh chance, and man, this is a really good game. Definelty the best VR game, but also a good Half-Life game. I really enjoyed the gun play, and the challenge felt just right. A couple instances really irritated me, like the strider fight in the end, but overall, it was competently built. I was wrong about Half-Life Alyx. Thank you Valve for making this game, it really was something special. Solid 9/10.

If you were going to make a sequel(?) to The Stanley Parable, this is how you do it. VERY fun!

A perfect sequel! Adds onto what made Doom 2016 so great, and focuses heavily on improving the gameplay and lore. Doesn't feel like a DLC to the first, it's a full blown sequel. Certainly worthy of the hype!

A perfect transition from console based shooter to a PC FPS. Halo is back baby. Slight learning curve for those unfamiliar to the series, but offers lots of variety for virtually limitless replayability!
