Destroy all Humans is a remake of the original 2005 game of the same name. The visuals have been dramatically updated, and the art style has been given a more cartoony look that works well for it. The story has been kept exactly the same other than the addition of a previously cut mission and the dialogue, while a bit dated, has been kept the same from the original game, which is great for players of the original game but can be a bit off-putting for new players. Several of the recorded lines sound like the original ones from the 2005 game which does feel like a disconnect in some parts. Along with the original weapons they’ve added a variety of new abilities like a dash ability and a focus ability that works like a lock-on. There are a variety of different maps to explore that offer some collectibles and side challenges and unlike the original you’re allowed to replay previously complete missions and there have also been optional objectives added for more DNA to spend for upgrades. My biggest problem with this game are the boss fights, they’ve given them much more health than in the original, however aside from a few new abilities they aren’t really much harder, they’ve just become bullet sponges. The final boss especially suffers from this issue and it did not feel satisfying to finally beat it but rather like I just completed a tedious chore.
Destroy all Humans has kept most of the charm from the original game and players who played the original will more than likely enjoy the game. It was a ton of fun to play and was very nostalgic for me to play. I’m not sure if new players to the series will enjoy it if they try to compare it to more modern games but I do hope that they remake the other games in the series.

Devolverland Expo is a showcase of all the new games that Devolver Digital is working on but was unable to show in person due to the global pandemic. It’s a fun and creative way to show their game trailers rather than just dumping them all on YouTube and is also more than a “walking simulator”. You must sneak past security robots and they created an entire expo to explore complete with entire displays and booths for each of the games like you’d find at a real expo and they even feature collectables that hint at unannounced projects they’re working on. There’s even a boss fight at the end and everything.
I think that this is a cute and creative way to show off their upcoming games. While this is basically just a giant advertisement, it’s shameless in admitting it and is a breath of fresh air from getting constantly bombarded with game ads all the time in the real world. Plus it’s a cool way to have an expo during the pandemic while respecting social distancing.

Human Fall Flat is a physics-based puzzle game where you play as a doughy character and must traverse different environments to find the exit. Each level has an overarching theme like Castles, Haunted Houses and Aztec ruins and the puzzles relate to the levels theme. The controls do take some time getting use too since your character isn’t very strong or fast but there’s lots of humor to be found in the awkwardness of the whole game. Even performing simple tasks like opening a door or picking up a box feel silly and awkward but aren’t frustrating. All the puzzles can be completed solo, but it is more fun to play with other people, even if you spend more time agitating each other than finishing the puzzle. This game was a lot of fun to play and the developers are still releasing new levels to play so this game does have replay value with the new levels, along with all the fan made content for it.

Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is a faithful remastering of the original game from 2003. It’s received a massive visual update and is more colorful and lively than the original game. The main gameplay, story and mechanics are all like how they were in the original game. This game does have a few minor bugs in it like problems with hit boxes registering hits and the teleportation boxes not registering a character inside of them. It was very nostalgic to play through again and I enjoyed seeing the new artstyle.

The Wolf Among Us is a TellTale adaptation of the Fable series. You play as Bigby Wolf in Fabletown, a section of New York City where several classic fable characters live in secret among the human population. Throughout the story you solve a series of murders and meet several down on there luck Fables. Like most TellTale games it feels more like an interactive book than a game, but that isn’t a bad thing. The story is strong, and you make choices throughout it that affect what happens throughout the story. Aside from dialogue options you also participate in Quick Time Events for “combat” sections. While these are a nice break from the main gameplay loop, they don’t add much and end up feeling tedious during the extended sequences that can last over 15 minutes. Overall this is one of the best stories from TellTale and while I’m hesitant to call it a game it is still a good story with an ending that really encapsulates the idea of choices mattering.

Fallout shelter was originally a mobile game where you create your own vault and populate it with dwellers to perform different tasks like generate power, grow food and other tasks to keep your vault running. It has all the makings of a standard app game where you perform a few tasks then exit the app and return to it a few hours later to collect resources and check on how things are going. Your vault unlocks different rooms based on the number of dwellers you have, and you use the Fallout universe currency of bottlecaps to purchaser things. There are no premium currencies like in other mobile games but there are loot boxes and items to speed up tasks to be done immediately.
You can also send your dwellers on quests, however most of the quests involve exploring a building which is your dwellers going room to room fighting enemies. The combat is done automatically with almost no interaction from the player other than using healing items and performing “critical hits” which is a one-click event. This game is mostly about waiting for events to happen and checking in every few hours like most mobile games of the same genera. While the Fallout spin is fun at first it quickly becomes repetitive and feels more like a chore than a game.

This review has spoilers for Arkham City and Arkham Knight
Arkham Knight is the final game in the Arkham series and suffers from the issue of being “too big”. The story is that one of Batman’s villains named scarecrow has teamed up with a new villain called The Arkham Knight and have threatened the entire city with a chemical weapon attack, so everyone is evacuated from the city aside from random bad guys and an entire militia of soldiers with a fleet of unarmed drones and equipment. Now while the last game required some suspension of disbelief to believe that the city would allow turning an entire section of it into a prison this one falls into the category of ridiculous. There are so many things that happen throughout the story that left me wondering “how the heck did this happen” like how the Riddler has build entire racetracks for Batman under the city or even though Joker died since his blood was transferred to other people they are all becoming Jokers somehow. Speaking of Joker even though he died in the last game he continues to haunt Batman all throughout this game and it becomes very annoying after a while. He is constantly talking to you throughout the game and anytime you have a scene that is serious or emotional it is instantly ruined by him. He feels like the annoying friend who won’t stop talking while you’re watching a movie. The big reveal for the Arkham Knight is also disappointing because it ends up being a completely new character that has never been shown in any of the other games and unless you’re a super fan of the series you might not even know who it is.
One of the biggest features of the game is that you get to drive the batmobile which is probably the weakest part of the game. Almost everything you do requires you to drive it or remote control it to solve puzzles and the fighting sections in the car are just mindless “blow up all the bad guys” sections. The combat in this game is a mess as well since they want the fist fight to be bigger than the last game they often feature a variety of enemies that each require a very specific method of fighting and dodging to defeat and it feels so busy and much more involved than they needed to be. The stealth sections are also annoying because instead of having 6-8 guys for you to stealthily take down its 14-20 which feels a bit like overkill, especially if you mess up and have to completely start over.
Arkham Knight feels like they tried too hard to make it the “biggest game ever” however in there attempt to do so they forgot what made these games unique. It’s such a chore to do anything like fight or complete missions and the story is a mess. If you give this game a pass you wouldn’t be missing much but if you really like the Batman series or wants to see it to the end, then you should give it a try. I have a hard time recommending it because of all its faults but it’s not bad enough that I hate it. It honestly just feels like a chore, something that you’re trying to complete for the sake of completing.

Arkham City is the sequel to Arkham Asylum and takes places several months after the events of the game. You play as Batman in the Arkham City, which is a section of Gotham city that has been roped off by the government and filled with all its villains to run around and do whatever they want while “imprisoned”. Unlike the first game you get to fight several more iconic villains from the series and the story is much more involved than the first game. The combat has also been improved dramatically so it flows much smoother and you have several gadgets that you can use during combat.
While the main story is good the side content is lacking. Most of the side mission amount to running around the map looking for items until you find enough to fight a boss. It honestly starts to become a chore after a while, especially finding all the Riddler trophies which feel like a massive time sink for no real reward other than for the sake of completion.
The game also features a DLC pack where you play as Catwoman in her own unique story and while she has a different play style it’s not as fun to play as her and it’s a hassle to travel around since she’s much slower at getting around. There is also a pack where you play as Robin after the events of Arkham City, which is much more fun, even though you play as Batman for more of it than Robin.
Overall this is my favorite game in the entire Arkham series. The story is interesting, the combat flows well and getting around the map is fun. While the side stuff is lacking most of my complaints are tiny nitpicks and don’t really affect the overall game and it’s still a great game. The DLC isn’t bac to play if you really like the game but you can skip it and not miss much. I do recommend playing the first game before this one since the events of the original heavily influence the sequel.

Murdered Soul Suspect is a detective game where you play a recently murdered detective and you must solve the case of your own murder and stop a serial killer. You are given a variety of ghost abilities that allow you to find clues like listening to people’s conversations and influencing people in order to find out new information. While the mechanics are fun at first, they are shallow and hardly change any throughout the game. Whenever you are given a question to answer it is always the most obvious answer. One of the first questions ask you what’s the most important aspect of the murder scene and the answer was “there was a murder.” I kept trying to connect the clues together to solve the problems, but it never really mattered most of the clues were pointless or just give background lore information that ultimately don’t affect the main story.
Another frustrating feature is the forced combat sections. Since you’re dead you cant fight anyone in the real world, so periodically they’ll bring demons out for you to fight, except you never really fight them. You just sneak up behind them and do a quick time event and they’re dead. This only happens like 5 times throughout the game and feels like a massive waste of time because the demons don’t really affect the story other than being an obstacle.
Murdered Soul Suspect is frustrating because it’s almost a good game. The pieces are all there they just had difficulty putting them together. If they took out the demon “fights” and did more with the “you being a ghost” mechanics and required the players to use more deductive skills like a proper detective game then it could have been really good.

Fallout 76 Wastelanders is an expansion to the original Fallout 76 game that features NPCs and a new story campaign. The original campaign does not feature any human NPCs, but rather mostly robot characters and audio recordings. The story reason is that all the NPCs left because of a virus going on and curing and stopping the virus is the ultimate goal of the campaign, but it still feels strange that there are absolutely no humans anywhere then all of the sudden for Wastelanders several humans just “show up.” Aside from that the story itself is a mess. It’s all over the place and it doesn’t feel like a story but rather a to-do list of tasks to complete with the overall goal of “stopping the virus”. While the main story isn’t great, the side quests and events have a lot to offer in story and content, and the world itself is full of story and content to explore. It feels like more effort when into the world than the story itself.
I was very hesitant to buy this game because it’s an MMO. I was expecting to get killed a lot by higher level players of have my base destroyed several times, however the player community has been very supportive, and I haven’t run into any issues. You don’t see players in the world all that often unless you’re doing events of quests and when you are everyone is working together for the same goal. You can’t really get damaged by other players unless you both attack each other and engage in PVP, and even if you die you won’t lose anything of value like money or weapons.
Even though this game has had major bug fixes since it first released it still has several bugs, however not many are game breaking. Many players including myself have reported that hits don’t always register with enemies and even you drain their health bar it still takes a while for them to die properly. There are also some bugs with the player owned shops accidently selling items that aren’t for sale, however there haven’t been too many bugs that overall impacted my enjoyment of the game.
Overall, I’d say if you were interested in the game but nervous to try it because of all the news and rumors surrounding it when it first released to give it a try. Many of the problems have been addressed and the multiplayer does not affect the game too much, it does take some getting use too, but still feels like a Fallout game.
