SOME SPOILERS SO BE WARNED!

The game has potential, but that's generally not a good thing to bank your money on, especially in game development. Is it worth the price in it's current state? Debatable, though I would personally say no.

The solo campaign is fun, though the way evolution works made it awkward to use the tems you find in the third island of the game without breeding, which becomes inaccessible until you finish all the available main quests, after which it becomes almost pointless to get them unless you're preparing a team for future updates. Game's very linear in terms of level design and progression through the story, and you often get locked out of previous islands until you finish the current one, which gets pretty frustrating sometimes if you missed some loot that you only became aware of later on.

Gameplay is pretty good. Double battles make the game relatively more in-depth than your traditional monster collecting game. Stamina system is cool but nothing revolutionary. Synergies just make the move more potent, instead of adding more depth which kind of sucks, but whatever. Other than that, it's good.

Story is pretty bare-bones. Nothing to write home about. Annoying rival, taking down the evil organisation, becoming the best trai- tamer that ever was. Basic Pokemon plot. Kind of funny that most of the NPCS have more personality than some of the main characters. If you're coming into this game for the lore... Who am I kidding, no one plays these games for the lore. You all the just want to see the cute temtem.

Speaking of which, they really nailed some of the designs in terms of cuteness. Like I probably want to cuddle at least half of the current temtem. Not exactly the best when it comes to intimidating or cool looking temtem, with a few exceptions. There are also some weird ones but hey, which game doesn't have weird monster designs. Plus, the graphics are pretty damn good. Aesthetics-wise, this game is doing pretty good.

End-game... Ohhh boy the end game.

Cosmetics are ridiculously expensive and Lumas are ridiculously rare. They can barely be considered "end-game" content and the best way to acquire them is to just grind for money by catching and releasing temtem at a high rate, which really doesn't reward all that much. Almost no thought process involved. Tried it for a few hours, and had to listen to podcasts in the background so that I wouldn't at least fall asleep.

Other aspects like Breeding and Competitive I haven't touched, as they seem to be locked behind a HUGE time sink. Breeding consistently for a competitively viable temtem costs a ridiculous amount, and depending on your luck, might require days or even weeks of grinding for a full team unless you plan on playing this game 14 hours a day. Even then, due to new updates, which would change prices and add new temtem, the balance might shift dramatically, making your time sink into those temtem a waste.

This game is nice for the first 20-30 hours you spend on the story and gameplay, but after that it kind of falls flat for me. Hold your money, see where the development goes. Remember that it takes only a few bad decisions to turn a great game into a pile of crap. As it currently stands.

A solid 'Meh/Must buy'

Pre-alpha, lot of potential but also a really long development time due.

If you want a sandbox with a lot of freedom, content and mods, this is for you but I'd recommend waiting until full release unless you're fine with dealing with bugs and 'kinda' crappy systems that are still work in progress.

Great game, gonna buy the donationware soon cause it deserves WAY a lot of support for how nice of an experience it gives so quickly and consistently. It's slightly harder in hard and I just unlocked expert which seems almost 1.5 times as hard but it still has that fairness to it.

Go to settings and turn on "Always restart music"

Idk, it atleast gives me more satisfaction when I manage to reach like 40 seconds in finally on hard mode and listen to that amazing music (Which is pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing btw, please go check out the artist hinkik, he really deserves credit for this).

Either way, great game, try it (it's literally free and just around 100 mb). It can be a great time waster or just a simple break if you were doing something like homework or some competetive game for continuous hours.
