My initial review of the Special Edition was negative back on initial release because I didn't really see much of a point if you were buying fresh + already owned the game.

Now, with the CC mods/AE edition mods or whatever the bundle is, it's like a new game for me.

Skyrim always sat in the shadows of Oblivion for me, and I really never gave it the time that it deserved. I had an inkling to play it after giving up on FPS recently, and I've been hooked. I've easily added some mods from Nexus, and I am having a blast.

Hopefully Bethesda sees how much the little touches added to the game from ES6. Oblivion is still better :)

After so much time played with much more time ahead of me, I suppose it's time to change my review to a serious one.

Anyone and everyone who bashes the developers for this game are entitled children. Facepunch updates the game every month with occassional updates between, and they listen to the community pretty well. If you're interested, r/PlayRust will show you said entitled children who complain about everything.

Above all, the game is in early access. Performance vs visuals has been a constant up and down for a lot of people since I've started playing. The game's visuals keep getting better, which results in the loss of FPS for a lot of people that play. It's never happened to me - just something to be aware of if your computer sucks.

Survival/PVP is one of the fastest growing genres on Steam. Whether that be with dinosaurs, zombies, or just pvp, there's a ton of them; I can esaily say Rust is the king of them all.

If you intend to play this game by yourself, don't. It's possible to lone wolf the game and be successful during a wipe cycle (If you don't have a job, school, or a family). Considering that many people play this game like it is their full time job, it is not worth trying to grind by yourself.

Playing with friends is the best way to play. Gather resources together, build a base, and then explore and raid others. Those 3 things sum up the game. More so then any game I've ever played, you'll meet some of the most toxic pricks in all of gaming. It can be hard to believe that some of these people actually exist. I love the game; I hate the community. Play with friends, seriously.

Words cannot really describe how I feel about this game. I've put in hours just to be offline raided that night and lose everything, and I've had fortified bases that last an entire raid cycle. The time I've spent in this game rivals the greatest gaming experiences of my life, such as playing through TES:IV or Fallout 3 for the first time.

Updating my review for Labor of Love badge - everything I have here remains true. Game is much more fun with friends and the updates over time have been questionable at times, but mostly positive. Find a good server and play with friends and you can easily lose a weekend.

Updating again for Labor of Love. Rust still going strong years later with monthly updates.

The most fun I've had playing a video game in a long time. Rip a demons arm off and hit his head like a baseball. 69/10

After playing a lot more:

This game is kind of a revival of a classic. I never played the original DOOM, but I know what made it so popular and revolutionary. This DOOM achieves the same thing. Constant, fast paced and overly beautiful gore is all this game does, and it does it very well. The storyline is pretty good.

Plus, it's optimized very well. I rarely dip below 60FPS on Ultra with an R9 280x.

Naming dinosaurs dumb things and creating mutant characters is the best part of the game.
