If you are a paleontologist at heart, or if you just love dinosaurs in general, I don't think you'll find a better game out there than the Isle for playing and simulating life as a dinosaur. This title has been in Early Access for... well the better part of a decade now, however, this is one of the few exceptions out there that has continued to be developed, and is gearing up for a complete overhaul to the game soon. There are a plethora of options for dinosaurs you can play, both herbivore and carnivore alike. There are balance issues with the dinosaurs, to the point where most carnivores would rather attack other carnivores for food because they're easier to kill. However, if you find the right server, or the right group of people, this game can be a ton of fun. Survival is a time sink for growing your dinosaur up, and until you're very comfortable with the game I'd suggest staying away from it. Start out in a sandbox server, where you can pick and choose your dinosaurs and have them start as adults. This will allow you to find your favorite way to play the game, without spending 8-12 hours to grow a dino to adult, just to be eaten in hour 6 by a bigger version of yourself because they were starving. The graphics in this game are pretty great already, with better models and graphics coming in the overhaul from what I understand. They're planning on adding aquatic and flying dinosaurs as well, which will really put this game over the top in my opinion. I honestly can't say enough about how much this game has meant to me as a lover of dinosaurs. I eagerly await the future and what it holds, and would HIGHLY recommend this game to anyone that has even a slight interest in dinosaurs.

With Evrima being out for quite some time, and more things being implemented, I figured I'd come back and add a few more thoughts to this review. Recently my nephew and I have been playing this game again and it's been a lot of fun to run around with him. This game has brought a lot of fun and enjoyment to me over the years, and continues to impress me with some of the features they've added and plan to add.

With that being said.. If you're looking for a game that will be finished in 2023... or by 2025 even, don't bother. This game will be continually developed for quite some time as the team is dedicated to doing it right, and fixing things when they break. But they are a smaller team and so everything takes longer. If you can have patience with the slow development and not expect a quick turn around on things, then this game can be a good time sink. At $20 I'd highly recommend it if you're on the fence!
