You know that scene in the first John Wick movie where a bunch of thugs try to kick his ass at home and he absolutely wrecks them with a mixture of stealth and action? That's this game. Play it.

Excellent and thought-provoking. A sci-fi story to match the likes of Nier Automata, Signalis, and Blade Runner. A must-have for any fans of the genre.

Hilarious fun for local coop. It never fails to bring a smile to our faces. To the dev - thanks for the many moments of laughter!

EDIT: Sony's walked back the PSN requirement. Good job Divers.

Hey Sony reps. If any of you mosey on over to these reviews, many of us love the game, we just don't want to see our fellow divers locked out of playing because their countries don't support the PSN integration. The game's generally been working fine without it, so just make it optional and not mandatory at this point. It seems that this is the best way to get your attention, so will delete this once the requirement is removed or made optional.

Enjoyable game with a lot of meta-horror twists. Be forewarned that the "main" game shown in screenshots changes quite drastically about 2-5 hours in the game (depending on how fast you progress), but the general card playing mechanic stays consistent. I thought this was a welcome change, but it turned many people off.

Sekiro is not only a game, but a learning experience. When you start, it will be punishing, it will seem unfair, and it will kick your butt a couple of times. You'll tough through the early game, practicing your swordplay and trying to get better, but the game will still seem punishing, unfair, and butt-kicking. Then, you'll hit one or more bosses in the early game that will punish you to no end. They'll seem too quick for you, they'll seem to block all of your hits, and you'll seemingly do next to no damage to them. You'll fight them over and over, and you will die over and over.
...
...
So why am I recommending Sekiro?

Because at some point - after you've died maybe a half a dozen, to a half a hundred, to hundreds of times- the game will eventually "click" with you as it has "clicked" with everyone who I've discussed this game with. When this "click" happens, and you finally start understanding the mechanics of the game and utilizing them to your advantage, it is a glorious moment. No longer do you stand idly by with your sword up trying to anticipate deflects, but you now engage in active swordplay - a dance between you and your opponent - trading blows and parries until eventually, you dominate.

Sekiro is the first game in a long time that has made me feel like I've learned and mastered the mechanics. I'm almost done with my first playthrough of the game, but once that "click" happens and you start to master the game, it is an unforgettable moment.

Falling sand game meets roguelike - add in a dash of randomness and a difficult learning curve, and you have yourself a game that lasts for hours and never quite gets old.

11/25/2020 - I still suck at this game, but it's still got me coming back for more!
