Wow. That was a great game. A worthy reboot of the old Tomb Raider games. Lara Croft evolves here from an innocent young woman to a tough survivor. She tries to escape from an island with her crew and has to deal with nature, cultists and samurai. And she does so in spectacular action scenes, fast-paced escapes, in impressive locations with great graphics at the time and a bombastic soundtrack. There are also creative puzzles in the tombs, collectibles, challenges, extras and a multiplayer mode. Still highly recommended today.

"It was the Yuletide, that men call Christmas though they know in their hearts it is older than Bethlehem and Babylon, older than Memphis and mankind". H.P. Lovecraft - The Festival

H.P. Lovecraft liked Christmas. I don't like it that much so I'm glad to have found a game that put me in the perfect mood for Christmas. The story, the setting, the soundtrack, the funny dialog, everything fits the Christmas season. The spirit of Christmas has been reawakened in me. Thanks for that. Fhtagn!

Layers of Fear is a very good horror game with a great atmosphere, soundtrack, setting and shock moments. There is no running, hiding or fighting, just story, exploration, puzzles and jumpscares. It's a creepy, psychological walking simulator. Maybe a little short and the gameplay isn't for everyone but it's definitely worth a look.

I like the deep sea. The unknown, unexplored, mystical, the darkness, loneliness and horror but in Soma it was pure terror...and I loved it! Great creative and scary monster design, an intense and terrifying atmosphere, varied puzzles, impressive underwater locations and a fantastic story. In fact, the story is the real gem here. It is about questions of existence, identity, being and consciousness paired with important decisions. On the other hand, I found the sneaking to be rather mediocre, but you can also play the game in “Safe Mode”. Then you don't need to sneak and you won't die.

Fully recommended!

Wow. I didn't expect this plot twist at the end and I already knew there would be one. So that's a plus. What I didn't find so good were the knife fights. You have to defend yourself with your knife against the deep sea fauna and with every knife attack there's a time delay because you're underwater and wearing a diving suit. It's realistic, but you have to time your attacks perfectly or you'll get hit. And I was almost always hit. Several times. I found that annoying. Fortunately, you can often avoid such fights.

Otherwise, it's a game with strengths and weaknesses. Basically, it's a deep sea walking simulator with survival and horror elements. It has a great atmosphere which takes on a whole new dimension with a VR headset. Technically, it worked well for me and I thought the horror was well done. However, it only has a short playtime of maybe 5 hours and the graphics are rather VR standard. I have a VR headset, but I played it without it.

I can recommend it at a discounted price.

If you are wondering which of the two versions you should play, then I would recommend the Redux version. This version looks better and generally ran better for me than the original.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter impresses with its graphics, its beautiful photorealistic landscapes and its mysterious story and atmosphere, which is further enhanced by the soundtrack. And there are definitely H. P. Lovecraft references present.

The puzzles, on the other hand, are varied but also confusing at first because there are no explanations. The detective tasks were interesting but always followed the same pattern. The playtime is short at around 6 hours and the replay value is low and then you can play through the game in 1 hour like I did. (I played the Redux version first and then the original).

All in all, I can recommend it, but only if it's on sale.

No thanks. Not a game for me. The first few minutes it's quite fun to clean up but then it gets boring, monotonous and annoying. At least for me. I played it alone, maybe it's more fun in co-op. You get it for free with the purchase of Shadow Warrior and you get a perfect game relatively quickly because it only has two achievements. The only two positives I see here.

“Diving into the depths of the ocean, I felt like I was entering a realm of nightmares, where terrifying creatures lurked in the shadows.” This and many more quotes from Death in the Water 2 fit perfectly with Iron Lung.

In this short horror game, you are alone in a tiny submarine and must explore the depths and mysteries of a Blood Ocean. And this is where the game's great strength comes to the fore. Its atmosphere. Iron Lung offers an oppressive, threatening and dense atmosphere. Just you alone, in this iron coffin with your fears, your paranoia, your isolation and what lurks out there in the dark abyss. The whole thing is underpinned by the sounds of the submarine, the deep sea and the photos you take during your exploration. An experience not to be missed.

There are better The Lord of the Rings games out there, but I never had as much fun with any of them as I did with Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War.

Shadow of Mordor plays like a mix of various other games. Assassin's Creed, Far Cry (movement, stealth) and Batman (combat) send their regards. Especially the free-flow-style fights play smoothly and are fun. The finishers are great and it is very satisfying to cause a real bloodbath among the Orcs/Uruks. Furthermore, the story, the soundtrack and the atmosphere fit wonderfully into Tolkien's universe.

But what really makes this game unique is the Nemesis system. In addition to the normal Orcs/Uruks you fight, there are captains and warchiefs. These are randomly generated, look different, have their own name and individual strengths and weaknesses. There is a hierarchy among them. They engage in competitive battles and other activities to increase their power and climb the ladder. And we can intervene in this power structure and influence it with our activities or non-activities. And not only that. We can also control them and then send our own Orc/Uruk into the race. This system isn't perfect, of course, but I found it very entertaining to add my own touch to the whole tussle.

I would definitely recommend Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.

Alongside Red Dead Redemption, Call of Juarez is one of the few Wild West shooters I would recommend. You play as a bounty hunter who tells the story of his hunt for the most legendary outlaws of the Wild West, including Jesse James and the Dalton Brothers. In doing so, the levels change depending on what the narrator has to say, which is a creative approach and adds a humorous touch as well. Besides that, Call of Juarez offers fast revolver action, duels, bullet time and an arcade mode. All in all, it's a fun Wild West shooter and can also be interesting for those who aren't very interested in Wild West stuff, like me.
