This game is not for everyone, specifically fans of classic RPGs who are tired of the "open world" game with various POIs that offer little interest. If you like Skyrim and other modern "RPGs" then you will no doubt enjoy this game, just not really for me. Hoping this genre shifts from action adventure game back to more role playing focus, but I digress.

The redeeming qualities of the game lie in the monster hunts and the unique story lines. These elements, while very well made, hardly offer the roleplaying options that an RPG would offer. In this game you play as Geralt of Rivia, and while you have agency in the story you are playing a particular character with his own motivations, which can cause some "roleplaying" choices to leave something to be desired.

As a big fan of Witcher 2, I found this game a bit of a slog. I struggled to get through the starting zone and when I was finally met with the "open-world" all I found was the same repetitive side tasks and points of interest. The unique monster hunts, like with the Witch, are all incredible and almost make up for the fluff the game fills its maps with. The Baron's questline was enough to keep me interested for a while but I eventually was burnt out.

This game is amazing, it is well supported, unique, doesn't take itself too seriously, and is an absolute blast.

You can play this as a story mode boss killing game, or as an open world sandbox for building and crafting. A joy to play solo, an amazing experience to play with a friend.

My go-to rogue-like. Progression is very satisfying and all the characters are fun to play.
