Probably the best single player game I've played in over a decade, it's like someone mixed up myst and a (good) version of no man's sky.

I really want to like this game. The combat is fun, the puzzles are cool, and the characters and setting is interesting. What I can't get past however, is the grind. Now, I don't mind a little grinding here and there, but I refuse to have to spend hours gathering leaves or icicles or some other random piece of trash so I can get to the next small tidbit of story; all to be tossed back into the endless grocery list of inane tasks. The devs seemed so hung up on how, since this game is supposed to emulate an MMO, it should take on every single one of it's characteristics. I disagree. If the game wasn't so hung up on grinding and collectables, I would have given Crosscode an A+. As it stands, I'll probably just look up a story summary or watch a let's play so I can enjoy the game without having to spend what feels like decades on pointless garbage that doesn't contribute to the overall plot or experience.
