Great game if you're a fan of RogueLITE survival games. Though if you came looking for something along the lines of Day-Z, you will likely be disappointed.

This is not a game for those who dislike losing the game. You will die. Repeatedly. It is one of the core mechanics of the the RogueLITE genre, which the gameplay centers around. While there are several ways to resurrect yourself, they are costly and very dangerous, and don't guarantee you will live long enough to recover your belongings before you die from starvation, insanity, the elements, or by enemies.

Don't Starve has a number of different aspects which can be enjoyed by a wider audience: an adventure mode (an entrance to which is contained insiede the standard sandbox map), which focuses on exploring and using your ingenuity to survive against the unfair enemies (good luck attempting to fight most enemies head-on,) and survival, the standard mode, in which you build a self-sustaining home which can withstand the deluge of hounds and the occasional deerclops attack.

If you can get past the fact that the game is intentionally unfair, which forces you to use your wits rather than simply point and click to kill things, this is an excellent game; one of the best in the genre.
