As of a casual point of view of someone that played the other Dark Souls games first, this game is absolutely horrible. A lot of questionable game designs that will make it absolutely abysmal to try and play it fast or even worse, play it without extra knowledge.

Once I played it for multiple hours and got some more insight from a friend this game quickly shot up in the rankings of favourite Souls game!
All of these questionable game designs decisions? Yeah, most of them started to make a lot of sense actually once I started to play the game different!
Only 3 things remain that I would call out that is not that great (especially if you are used to the other Souls games)
* Enemy placement is horrible at times. Running back to a boss is sometimes impossible without killing every monster in the way, which makes it take super long.
* With doors constantly closing once you bonfire, it becomes super annoying that iframes aren't really a thing anymore during animations. This connected with the design above can be quite annoying.
* Still being invaded while being hollow is ♥♥♥♥. Dark Souls 3 had a nice risk/reward system when using the Ember. Not using it would mean less health, but using it meant you could get invaded, but that is not at all a thing in this game sadly enough.

All by all, take your time with this game. Don't rush it and maybe do a bit of research. In the end it will be totally worth it and could be, just like my case, some of the most fun Souls experience you can have!
