Just get the sequel. Unless you like frantic punishing gameplay that frustrates in the long run. My very first impression was that this was a ported phone game because of the things demanding my attention constantly. My biggest complaint is the game world size and time scales. Not enough time to set up a route and see if it works at regular speed even in manual pause mode for better planning. People say RE2 is stripped down and simplified - its not.

Colossal Order please re watch your own promotion video from 5 years ago by Justin Roczniak/donoteat01 and listen to what he says. That's what a good city simulation needs to be able to do, on top of being a good looking city painter.

Its a start but still has some odd design. I think the worst part is somehow its more sterile and overly clean felling than the first game. Shame on Paradox for pushing this out the door long before it was ready. Making hardware requirements this high end was a fundamental misread of your audience. City builders are traditionally played on mid range systems and laptops and by people who often don't prioritize cutting edge first person shooter/ action game graphics.

incompetent/deluded techno feudal post government 'sovereign', calatrava esqe architectural monstrosities made of 'white' or 'rederite', full on drone combat. It all seemed so silly when it came out, was actually ahead of its time. Too bad it has a broken confusing campaign structure that kinda sucked the fun out of the whole experience.

Its cool being able to create the first steam powered intercity railroad the Liverpool and Manchester Railway - map is decent size for track laying but there's only one. The base game came with different maps of different scales, not here. Nowhere even to recreate the Festianogg. Where are the iconic brick and stone arch viaducts? Why is the currency in just dollars. Its all kind of low effort. Why am I competing with American cartoon characters? (I say this as an American. They are just goofy)

Its not the latest graphics or tech but the game is solid. Drive a truck deliver stuff, get a garage and buy own truck and trailer. Expand the garage buy more trucks and hire ai drivers growing your shipping business. Simulator and a little shipping management game in one. Maps are not 1 to 1. You wont find your house or street in the game but when you put the maps together things feel closer to all the real wold places I can travel to from my own house in a day. Yes there are a lot of DLC but SCS doesn't take its customers for granted with annual expectations of repurchases unlike other similar games and franchises. They have been working on an extensive free rework of original base game content (CA) too. Makes them stand out in the industry to me. One reason I'm able to overlook I didn't play for years because of controller setup frustration.

This time around I stuck with it figuring out the steering was both analog controller axis and buttons messing with steering. Don't rely on the setup wizard. Learn how steam works with your controller. Some functions ive found I don't even need so they are keyboard only. Its not as robust as DCS but you have options like long presses for different functions. I like how custom you can make the driver view pov angle. -even where the wheel is position is despite the slightly dated ui. (too many different screens when info/functions could be condensed a bit, I'm not playing this on a TV with a console.)

It's great capturing the feel of a state my family has been in for 6 generations, but where are the Twillerger Curves? The most treacherous section of Interstate 5? No I-205 beltway Or the Milwaukee Warehouse District? Seems odd not to have.

Early Access Review
Everything i wanted in a submarine game and more with the bomber crew like management aspect. Ever since I read the oping to a Patrick O'Brian Book that talked about how important ship stores are Ive wished for a substantial resource component to a sailing game. This game delivers there. The crew management gives it a bit more depth and I was blown away by the fact i could just take over a character and walk around my sub first person. That's on top of the smooth cinematic transitions from exterior view to the cutaway management mode. Like a updated Discovery/Military channel show effect. Even the map has a proper era appropriate feel to it. As someone who has put in some serious time on old school sub sims like Dangerous Waters, I'm blown away and look forward to where this goes.

Nostalgia at its best. My cousin had this game when it came out, our basic 486 could not run it. I beat the stripped down snes version. Glad I finally got to play the real one. The ships feel satisfyingly large and ship like not nimble like fighters. Balancing energy can be tricky. So can repair resources. and when you get damaged you have to just sit and wait for it to get fixed. I would make coffee or change a load of laundry, but some people may hate it. I wish the Ai was not so collision happy. Tip don't turn away from them too hard or you will clip them with your back end. Controls I changed: moved ship roll from NUM pad 1 & 3 to Z & X keys. Moved ship's pitch and yaw keys from NUM pad to the normal directional arrow keys. I tried using the voddoo2 visual enhancement upgrade but I ended up with artifacts of intermittent streaking stars or radar contacts.
