Played this way back when my uncle would give us his old PC games. always found it fascinating and glad i could fetch it for a little over a dollar. The lock picking aspect in this game was always pretty neat for me. Lately I've been trying to figure out what this game was seeing as i haven't played it in nearly two decades but aspects of the game always stuck in my mind. It's fun and challenging and more to it than I expected. Its a great little puzzle RPG, controls are simple and easy to navigate. I'm not familiar with the Krondor franchise, however, i feel like as a stand alone, it holds its own pretty good.

However, like many, it was difficult to get started. Here's what worked for me. on Windows 10

Find the game file in your steamapps folder, on the .exe right click into properties->compatibility->windows 95
also edit the RTKRONDOR.ini file if change [cinemat]->playback=0
Then open up the "Update Paths" batch file to fix the "trx" issue.

After this the game runs fine. I've had some bugs and small crashes, which can be a bit of an annoyance but for the most part the game plays fine. I really can't give this game a bad review in terms of game play. It's a fine game. Just outdated software thats no longer supported. It would be nice if the publishers could at least fix these problems before offering them up on modern platforms.

Early Access Review
Even though it's currently in Alpha as of this review. I can honestly say this is one of the most heart pumping, adrenaline rush enducing games I've played in a long time. Time is of the essence to stave off starvation and thirst. Being in and out of town to avoid other raiders and bandits, and most of all, the zombie threat. There's almost never a dull moment, as you run through endless fields and winding roads to reach a destination that may be fruitfull or barren, or may result in your death when being in a kerfuffle with other players. Despite it being in Alpha, it's still worth picking up and playing, especially with a group of friends.
