I was holding off on playing until release but was sad to see poor decisions being made by the developers right at launch. I give 3 reasons below why I suggest people wait from purchasing the game.

1. The game includes the same maps, heroes, and towers from the previous titles. It doesn’t bring enough new things to the table to justify putting in a lot of time into it if you have played DD1 or DD2 before. Dungeon Defenders 1 with all of the DLC offers a ton of content compared to how much DDA has right now.

2. They were adamant about no progress being lost from Early Access to Release which was strange. Most games typically detail your characters being lost after launch which would make the most sense. Due to this, a ton of people were misled into putting 100s of hours into the game. On launch, these characters were transitioned into a separate mode instead of the normal ranked mode most people play leaving them separate from the rest of the player base.

3. The original $40 price tag was said to be kept all the way through early access and past release only to have it lowered right on release day to $30. On top of that, a sale has lowered the price even more. I believe this caused people to buy it early expecting the price to remain the same.

Personally, I will be waiting until the game has more to offer. These early choices made by Chromatic Games do cause me to worry about the long-term development of the game. They should adopt a clear and concise way of projecting plans going forward to prevent people from thinking they have been wronged or lied to, as that is how you lose long standing supporters of the IP.
