11.7 hours in and I have barely scratched the surface of this game. The first game dropped out of nowhere, and had zero business being as good as it was, despite it's jank, was amazing, and the first successful "Gun-Souls" game in my opinion.

This game doubles down on almost every aspect. In a year with games like Tears of the Kingdom, Armored Core 6, Diablo 4 and Baldur's Gate 3; this game deserves it's place up there.

Drop-in Drop out co-op. Adventure Mode build in from the beginning. Literally if you're interested in souls-likes specially along the lines of the first dark souls, third person shooters, or games with layers upon layers to uncover... Play it.

Performance is fairly solid on my PC (Windows 10, R7 5800x, 32GB PC3200 DDR4, RTX 3070). Generally 60+ FPS at 1440p High with DLSS Performance. (One helmet tanks FPS unless shadows are set to low), Set shader cache size to 10GB in the Nvidia Control Panel.

Internet required for non-optional patching according to the requirements, fine. They have a server outage and you go to restart the game, and are locked out of it due to their server outage, unacceptable.

Sorry excuse for a port. 6 hours of tweaking to get it to hold 60fps at 1440p on a RTX 3070, 32GB DDR4-3200, and an R7 5800x (running from a Samsung 980 Pro NVME).

Save your money, don't pay $70 for this trashcan tier port. Callisto ran better than this before the Day 1 patch.

This review will remain negative until Capcom removes this mod-blocking, stutter inducing, performance degrading malware known as Engima Protector. Which they felt would be a smart idea to add post launch... Proof of this can be found on the internet archive and PC Gamer.

GG Capcom, you've successfully walked back ALL goodwill you've earned since the RE2: Remake. I hope your investors are happy.

Absolutely amazing reimagining of an already stellar game. Works well on release, no major bugs, no shader compilation stutters, and fairly well optimized. I'd say a 9.5/10 game on it's own merit.

-1 for Recording Ada using a poor quality microphone and cheaping out instead of re-recording her. Leading to an ungodly amount of undeserved harassment towards the voice actress who did a fantastic job.

-1 for the The Exclusive Upgrade Tickets DLC which are probably going to be needed for speedrunning NG categories. This was a shameless cash grab.

+1 for adding Mercenaries mode as free DLC and not charging for it.

Overall 8.5/10 and a solid contender for for one of the best games of the year.

---It's really disappointing, they cut the mercenaries mode and replaced it with a multiplayer mode nobody asked for. They cut the clock tower section. It's like they took the weaknesses from the original RE3 and amplified them. It's pretty much inferior to RE2 Remake in every regard.

They made it even more of a linear action title, yet the action isn't great. If you're gonna get it. get it on a steep sale.

Honestly this game reminds me a lot of my time playing demo discs as a child. Replaying levels, over and over, discovering new things and interactivity each time. It's pretty much bite sized immersive-sim levels, giving you almost complete freedom on how to achieve your goals.

There's a trilogy's worth of levels, various challenges, community made challenges using the same levels giving you various contracts, and finally a recently added roguelite mode. If you don't mind seeing the same levels repeated (with different goals and challenges) there's more than enough content here to justify the price. Especially now that it's all in one package.

Also a great game for speed running.

The game controls well, runs like a dream, and gives me high hopes for IO Interactive's upcoming game using the James Bond license.

So the developers promised on Twitter a fix for the horrid stuttering, that would be available day one. Approximately 23 hours after launch, a 400-500mb patch drops, I installed it, launched the game, allowed it to precompile shaders. Instantaneous improvement, 30-40% if not higher performance gain in already explored areas (compared to pre-patch), no more horrible hitching entering I enter a new area.

The fact they got a fix out on day one, let alone before the weekend. I am absolutely beyond impressed.

Metal Gear Solid 4 on an underclocked Steam Deck runs better than this. PRECOMPILE YOUR SHADERS AND TEST YOUR BLOODY GAMES!

Early Access Review
This is essentially 2D S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly with a bit of Tarkov thrown in. It's a bit rough at the start, and a lot of mechanics aren't fully explained, and it's obviously still a work in progress and the game does get repetitive after awhile.

However, if being 2D and top-down doesn't bother you, and you enjoyed the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. trilogy and/or Anomaly or enjoy raid style games but hate the PVP/Tryhards, and losing absolutely everything due to a stupid death, give this a shot.

Even in a very early state, It's still enjoyable, I've more than gotten my money's worth, and am looking forward to seeing this game continue to improve.

They haven't fixed any of the crashing, audio, or performance issues with the remaster. Yet almost 6 years after release they release a new quality of life update, that forces a new launcher on users which nobody wants, bloats my system with more useless shovel-ware designed to sell us more crap; and wastes space (and write cycles) on my SSD. Not to mention it breaks compatibility with Linux / the Steam Deck. Quality of Life? More like scummy cash grab.

I absolutely adore this game, but I can't endorse DRM that's arguably malware to a 10+ year old game and abusing the DMCA to file takedowns on channels playing with legally modded copies of the games?. Proof you hate your fans and an excellent way to destroy all goodwill you've built.

Hope your investors are happy with the lost revenue.

I wanted to love this game like I had loved the previous game, in both it's standalone and mod forms, but the controls will not allow for it.

The controls for the game require swinging the mouse in wide, sustained sweeping motions which I am incapable of doing without due to a bad shoulder. For this reason and the lack of any sort of accessibility options in the controls... I have to say give this game a hard pass.

While I would have gone about my day not leaving a review. It turns out that I cannot be refunded the full purchase amount due to deluxe edition DLC having currency which is non-refundable even if the base product is refunded.
