Against The Storm has quickly become one of my favorite games of 2024. As a fan of both roguelike and city-building games, this title masterfully combines the best of both worlds. The replay value is incredible—this is one of those games where sinking 100+ hours feels not only possible but inevitable.

Despite the roguelike game loop, the city-building elements remain fresh and engaging. Each stage offers countless strategies and paths to victory, ensuring that no two runs feel the same. The variety and depth make it nearly impossible to get bored.

On top of the excellent gameplay, the art style and music are phenomenal, adding to the game’s immersive charm. I genuinely can’t think of anything negative to say about this game. Though I wasn’t familiar with the developers before, I’m officially a fan now.

The storyline is okay at best, it's not very captivating to the point where you play the game and get curious about what happens next or where you actually get interested with the characters involved in the story; games like 'A Beginner's Guide' or 'Until Dawn' are able to capture very well, but the game -despite it having "story" in it's title- surprisingly has a better gameplay than it has story.
The parkour mechanics are great and in a way unique, albeit having some similarities to any spiderman game.
The visuals are amazing; the artstyle is perfect and the levels are somewhat coherent even though the game is obviously set in a fantasy world.
