Best gameplay in any FPS I've ever seen, and everything about the game just *feels* perfect. The movement is fluid and fast-paced as the pilot which feels great, the titans feel tanky and overpowered against infantry as they should, and the overall gunplay is great, too (if you've played Apex Legends, you'll be familiar with that already, though there are some differences here).

The campaign and story are also fantastic. The dialogue between the titan BT-7274 and the player character, creatively named Jack Cooper (voiced by Matt Mercer), is great, and the campaign didn't feel like it dragged on at all. Best to me is the level design, which is probably the most creative in any campaign I've ever played, save for maybe the Half-Life, Portal, and Metroid Prime series - all tying for first with this in my book.

It's incredibly well-paced, if a bit short (took me 10 hours for my last master-difficulty run, with time spent on finally getting 100% achievements), but that's not to its detriment at all since each newly-introduced gameplay element never has a chance to get stale. "Into the Abyss" and "Effect and Cause" are some of the most creative, well-crafted levels I've ever seen, and the final mission is perfect from beginning to end, too - though I won't spoil anything about any of those. Of course, the rest of the campaign is just plain fun, too, and it's all just as great even on subsequent playthroughs.

My *one* nitpick with anything in the campaign is that the dialogue can sometimes be a bit cheesy/cliche/repetitive, but that's hardly a major gripe at all considering how great everything else about the story is.

The multiplayer, while my least-played part of the game, is also incredibly fun and fast-paced - I am constantly wishing this had the popularity Overwatch, Battlefield, Call of Duty, and of course Apex Legends all have, because this game is just as enjoyable as any of them, and keeps its own niche with the unique pilot-and-titan combat.

All in all, this is one of my all-time favorite games just from the campaign alone, and one of just a few single-player games that I've ever played through more than once - something I do at least yearly for this.

(It also goes on sale frequently nowadays, so if it's $5 and you like shooters, just pick it up! Or even if it's not on sale; I bought this when it came out on Origin then again for Steam, and I don't regret paying more than full-price at all! Well, except that EA got more money from me...)

Fantastic game with just one minor problem - there's no "Reverse Hotshot" achievement for getting *off* the sun station manually

  • Gameplay: similar to the Metroid Prime games, explore the world and unlock abilities to use in combat and/or explore the world further
    • Exploring and traversing the world is a big part of the game (possibly more than combat or story)
    • Skill tree allows for some slight customization at lower levels, but you can complete it entirely if you grind just a bit
    • All collectibles are cosmetic, and customizing how your lightsaber looks is a neat feature
    • It's a linear story with little to no gameplay customization, however, so there's not much replayability
  • Combat: a good mix of melee and Force combat
    • Emphasis on timing dodges/parries to create openings and counterattack
    • The Force is used more for utility than damage in combat
  • Graphics: very good, detailed, and helps create a great atmosphere
  • Sound design: absolutely phenomenal
    • High quality sound effects throughout, gives off the perfect SW vibes
    • Soundtrack is orchestral and cinematic and complements the gameplay well
    • Lightsaber effects sound great and are rendered based on the saber's movement (and each color even uses its own real-time DSP to distinguish how each color saber sounds, which is a really cool effect)

Overall a really good game with great gameplay mechanics, very good graphics, and stellar sound design, with a good story and characters as well (though most of my enjoyment came from the gameplay itself). Due to the pretty low replayability, though, I'd probably recommend getting this game on sale if you care about that kind of thing (it doesn't bother me much, especially since I took the time to fully explore and complete each area).
