ACERCA DE OG Skin 2004

OG-Steam, a 2004-Style Steam Skin

OG-Steam is a skin I created to replicate the style of Steam from around 2004. I have restored as much as I can without losing any functionality. Since Valve kicked off the move to a web-based Steam client, certain components of Steam no longer use VGUI (Valve Graphical User Interface) for skinning and subsequently require third-party tools to inject custom CSS/JavaScript. As of January 2021 the following components have gone web-based:

- Friends & Chat
- Library
- Uninstall confirmation prompt (why?)
- Game Properties/AppDetails

Hence, I created OG-Steam-Library as an accompanying Library theme. Currently, I have no plans to make a theme for Friends & Chat as I use a web browser instead, treating it like the separate app that it is.

Steam's latest Beta is a complete rewrite of the UI, with removal of all VGUI elements. This update effectively renders this skin unusable. All good things come to an end, and I knew the end was coming when I started this project. Thank you to everyone who used OG-Steam in its short lifespan. Thank you to the contributors, and those of you who submitted bug reports. It has been a fun nostalgia trip that I won't forget.

That theme looks great! Glad to see someone has taken up the mantle; the old green skin lives on!

Given how petty modern day valve is it's only a matter of time before they find a way to break these new skins.

You have to downgrade your steam version, and get SFP, and put this in steam launch args:
"-cef-enable-debugging -vgui -nofriendsui -no-browser +open steam://open/minigameslist"
You'll also have to go to steam interface and change the skin to og-steam.
Here is how to revert UI , and your Steam will have a broken friends list after that; so here's a current method to patch that too. (Ironically, it is NOT sfp.) [github.com]

I did all of this and the theme works like a charm for me. If anyone is confused lmk

Valve really needs to do an official version of this, I mean they did a profile theme, Steam Deck keyboard and KDE theme so where is the Client skin?
