Park Sun-Young (Hangul: 박선영; Hanja: 朴宣映; born May 30, 1989), better known by her stage name Hyomin, is a South Korean idol, singer, dancer, rapper, actress and a member of K-Pop girl group T-ara.

Hyomin was a famous internet ulzzang before debuting with T-ara. She was a trainee under JYP Entertainment and was considered to be a replacement for Hyuna, who was a member of the Wonder Girls in 2007. Before being cast by Core Contents Media, she started appearing in music videos like SS501's "Unlock", SG Wannabe's "Smooth Break-Up", and FT Island's "Heaven".

She was chosen by Core Contents Media to be featured in some of her labelmates' songs prior to her debut. This included Hwang Jung Eum, the Colour Pink project with Seeya, Davichi and Black Pearl. She has also performed on a music show with SeeYa during their promotions for the song, "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥".

In 2010, Hyomin was in the Wonder Women project group with label mates Seeya and Davichi, along with fellow member Eunjung. She had participated in the OST for SBS's drama Coffee House in 2010 and also collaborated with Brave Brothers for their digital single "Beautiful Girl" in 2011.

On June 14, 2011, Core Contents Media announced that Hyomin would take over leadership as T-ara's 3rd leader for their comeback album, John Travolta Wannabe, and Japanese promotions. She later passed on her leadership to fellow member, Soyeon.

New photos of T-ara’s Hyomin on set of ‘The Thousandth Man’ revealed

T-ara‘s Hyomin has been captured on the set of her new drama, MBC‘s ‘The Thousandth Man‘.

A user recently uploaded two new photos of the singer-actress onto an online community board titled, ‘Hyomin filming for her new drama‘.

The newly shared photos show Hyomin dressed in a “bottomless fashion” with her hair tied up in the first photograph, and a red top and skinny jeans in the second.

Hyomin plays the role of gumiho on ‘The Thousandth Man’ who must eat the livers of 1,000 men in order to become a true human being.

[Review] T-ARA ‘Mirage’ Part 3

Again Ahreum is featured in this video rapping. I must say that her rap is exponentially more tolerable to listen to than the electro mess that was in “♥♥♥♥ Love“, and she has clearly demonstrated that she is at least capable of rapping. What concerns me, and not to bring a bag o’ controversy into this, is that her first rap is nearly identical in style to the one Hwayoung spit out in the DAVICHI collaboration. Everything from the opening, to the metric rhythm she used, to the emphasis on an unchanging syllable. Despite these similarities, Ahreum’s rap lacks the sheer power and emotion that was represented in the earlier recording, leaving “Day and Night” to sound rather stale in this regard. While this demonstrated her capability, it just seems like a bad move by the producers to attempt to fill the void of the rapper with a duplicate shell of its former self. While I’m certainly not saying that Ahreum doesn’t have potential, should she continue to be stenciled in the group in such a manner, rather than promoting what originality she has, then she will forever be seen as purely lackluster.

Overall, I really enjoyed listening to “♥♥♥♥ Love“. I feel that it’s a strong song that’ll sit towards the top of the pile in memorable T-ARA releases. However, while I laud KKS for attempting to showcase their newest toy in Ahreum, I feel that something other than what was done with her in this release must be done. Should whatever that is be accomplished, I feel the glaring weaknesses that were tenfold throughout this release will be minimized. So for as much as I was curious and excited for ‘Mirage‘, I will be even more curious and excited for their next release and how they handle the inclusion of the next new member, Dani.

Rating Overview

Pros: “♥♥♥♥ Love” follows T-ARA’s successful formula, song isn’t as banal as previous releases, music video is well done, toy concept, strong addition to ‘DAY BY DAY’, whisper-like vocals in “Day and Night”.

Cons: Ahreum rapping on “♥♥♥♥ Love”, boppy synth in “♥♥♥♥ Love”, Ahreum rapping in “Day and Night”, attempting to fill in the rap spot by unsuccessfully trying to duplicate Hwayoung.
