Fire Emblem fans, unite!

It will have been a whole 3 years this April since Awakening came out. Nintendo has decided to grace us with a peek at their next installment. No official word on the title or the plot yet, but there are some interesting things in that trailer (like some sort of giant golem...statue...thing).

My initial thoughts are as follows.

What looks good to me: While their art style remains the same, their design has changed significantly. It looks like this game might have a more asian flair to it, at least as far as the armor goes. Definitely an improvement over the weird ass armor designs Awakening had. The transition to battle is also an interesting change.

What worries me: The attack animations are very similar to how Awakening's were. Almost scarily so. I fear how much of this game will simply recycle Awakening assets. Mainly, I'm hoping they actually add some new animations for the promoted units (as old Fire Emblem games did), and more variety between all the classes.

What I'm hoping to see: Aside from the afforementioned awesome attack animations, I'd like a return of the anima-light-dark magic triangle. There was a character using some icy attack, which could mean there will be some changes to the magic system. If there's another MU dealy with this game (highly likely, methinks), I'm hoping for more variety in customizing his/her looks. Mostly though, I'd like to see better, less trope-y characters in the game.
