So I know people would like to see speed limit changes, and I'd like to try to get a consensus on what people want. I do not want to make things too fast, but I would like to do the following:

a) Make large ships slower than small ships, maybe even significantly so
b) Disable grav drives

The limits I'm considering right now are:

Large ship - 200
Small ship - 300

I don't want it too fast, as I don't want it to break some checks I have in game for certain things.

Also the reason I want to disable grav drives. My reasoning is this:

Large ships are supposed to be large and slow. They are not supposed to be large version of fighters. Grav drives are a mechanic that allows you to get to full speed way too fast. Yes you can't maneuver, but being able to basically jump to full speed in a second for a very cheap price is not ideal. If we want faster acceleration that should be handled with expensive thrusters, not some strange gravity mechanic.

I'm also considering limiting Gyros on large ships as well, so you can't build the equivalent of a 50 million ton fighter that can spin around instantly because you tossed on 5000 gyros. If you build a 50 million ton beast, it should be very hard to move.

I wanted to touch base with everyone and let you know where the POW server stands. We have had some problems lately with the world and also some drop off in players. This is due to several things but a lot of them are programing issues and issues inside the game that seem to be keeping is back.

We all know this is a work in progress and a WIP and still in alpha and thus all the changes weekly can cause problems and corruption. At this point I plan to complete wipe the server and start over to restore speed, add new abilities and features, and also hope renew some interest in what we have created. It may also be something that we have to do from time to time due to the changes Keen makes. But time will tell.

To that point I would like to extend the offer to all of our users who would like to either A: retain their existing builds in world; or B: receive a copy of their builds in SBC format. To do so please post in the steam forum here, on the http://www.powersofwar.com forums, or contact me directly at http://[email protected] and I will make sure it happens.

I am currently somewhat limited on time so this is NOT going to happen real soon. I also want to get anyone’s feedback or suggestions on what they would like to see in the new world. Mods, Procedural or Static Roids, Cargo Ships and Procedural Bases, Etc. At this point I will take any ideas and as long as they can technically be done, I'll be happy to add them.

So I hope you all embrace this new year like I am and help us bring this server back into the spot light together!
