I just want to start off this post by saying thank you to all of the people who supported any of my projects at one time or another. I know I haven't said much to most people in the group since it started in July of 2011; I also know that my silence says a lot. Some people in this group joined it because they, like me, had the imagination to believe in what this could turn out to be and liked it. Others, on the other hand, joined because perhaps a friend invited them or they just joined for no reason in particular. Either way, thanks for being a part of this - even though as of yet you haven't gotten anything out of it.

I think it's more than time for me to be honest with everyone by stating a few things about the project's trajectory and myself that you may or may not know.

First, Cobalt was the brain child of both myself and Nikolai (as he was once known) back at Catalyst Gaming. The ambitious project of Cobalt roleplay (prematurely and ironically announced to the Catalyst Gaming public on April Fool's Day of 2011) quickly grew some hard core supporters and big time doubters. My first estimated time of completion for the Cobalt RP project given to RoflWaffle during March of 2011 was June 2011 - a measly 3 months. When June came around, Cobalt RP had not materialized as promised, and on several more occasions following the failed June 2011 prediction, I would continue to make foolish estimations on the time it would take to complete Cobalt. (On a side note, tension grew between me and CG and I decided to leave that organization taking Cobalt with me, creating Virtual Freedom.) I have learned from my naïveté, and currently there is no estimated date of completion for either Cobalt or GArcade.

Second, I know I haven't exactly been fair with the people who actualy care about Cobalt. I haven't kept all of you up to date, as is my moral duty, and instead chose to be silent. My silence said a lot to all of you, and only encouraged speculation and asumption, though no more. I will not be silent any more. You are all getting the truth today; as they say, better late than never.

Third, Cobalt's development took a back seat to GArcade's development around November of 2011. I prioritized GArcade to Cobalt because I figured that VF would need a gamemode that I made to make us more known in the GMod community before going to release our star attraction, Cobalt. In hindsight, I realize it would have been more efficient to just focus on Cobalt. At the time, I justified the change of course by telling myself that GArcade would both make Cobalt's launch stronger by creating a dedicated player base and by putting the VF brand out there as well as the fact that much of the technology in GArcade (specifically regarding NPCs and the way the player interacts with the gamemode, two extremely fundamental elements in Cobalt) could be transfered to Cobalt from GArcade.

Fourth, I severely lack motivation. Don't get me wrong, I do know what I'm doing. I know how to manipulate tables and variables via mathematics, data sets, conditions, loops, and pretty much any other logical function of Lua to achieve a desired in game mechanical effect, be that effect a visual interface or an explosion. That's not the point. The point is, I'm not motivated. Believe me if you may but it's actualy pretty hard to balance school and massive developement projects like Cobalt or GArcade. I'm not saying that I'll never be motivated. I'm just saying, as of now, I'm not motivated.

I'd like to thank everyone again for riding along in this experience with me. This isn't the end. I still have the desire in me to finish what I started because, believe it or not, passion is hard to kill - and I am very passionate. The bottom line is, I'm not sure how long this is going to take to finish; I can't make any promises on a deadline. I can, however, promise you that it will one day be finished. If you want to stick around until then, thanks, but if this is the end of your interest in this project, I understand.
