Crew will receive experience by killing aliens and by completing productions while assigned to a module or gathering resources on planets.

Crew will gain a higher level if enough experience is gained. With each higher level the crew member will receive certain extra skills.

• Crew will receive 2 XP from shooting at aliens, 3 XP by performing a resource harvest loop on a planet and 5 XP when completing a progress in a module.
  
• Crew will receive 5 XP when returning from a crew only harvester mission. Crew will receive 20 XP from recovering a disease.
  
• The current crew experience is visible when talking to the crew by the status of the rank stars. Full stars(rank) is visible at the crews name patch as well.
  
• Written crew rank is added to crew info. Promoted player is always captain.
  
• Visual effect similar to healing when crew promotes to new rank.
  
• Intercom Message when crew member has been promoted
  
• Crew receives full health on level up
  
• Gained XP is visible as number over crew head if the gain exceeds 20,40,60,etc.

Given that the crew member has the "weapon specialist" skill, the player can choose the weapon of the crew member.

The crew can be equipped with some but not all of the player's unlocked weapons. The first selectable weapon is the default crew weapon of that corporation.

Wormhole Sites

On some planets the player can find an alien pyramid.

The player can activate a wormhole device in the pyramid which opens a wormhole in the galaxy cluster. By activating more pyramids, the player can jump between different wormholes across the galaxy.

• In a cluster with a wormhole a particle is visible in front of the bridge.
  
• The Hyperjump Button on the Galaxy Terminal will show "Wormhole Travel" instead of "Hyperjump" in case a wormhole travel is possible.
  
• Pyramids can be found on planets. By entering the pyramid a wormhole in the cluster gets unlocked.
  
• The first unlocked wormhole will add a wormhole crew hint to the bridge crew.

• Mouse sensitivity lower than 40 is not saved
  
• Used color scheme is not saved
  
• Slime decals in some modules (canteen) without eggs

Ship Assault Module

• All Rogueships
  
  
• All Shipwrecks
  
  
• A variation of prebuilt ships with slightly modified modules.
  
• Modules on enemy ships will stay in their predefined destruction level. Repairing or destroying energy nodes is not possible. Most modules have an alternative lighting (alarm lights) on enemy ships if in power off or worse condition.
  
• Enemy ships have a unique atmosphere sound with random creaking and alarm messages.
  
• Intercom messages on player actions (player is stealing resources, attacking captain, etc.)

• Rogue ships and wrecks can have turrets which will fire (only) at the player. They have a blinking red alarm light and an idle beep sound. Depending on the Rogue danger level, the turret has 5, 10 or 15 damage per shot.
  
• If within 8000 units distance, up to 3 Rogues will move to resource modules if they are getting robbed by the player. And will support the captain if the captain gets attacked. They will perform an intercom message.
  
• All enemies have a chance of 1/12 to drop ammo of the players current equipped weapons.

• Rogue Commanders - they are equipped with an energy barrier which they can deploy if confronted by the player. Up to two rogue troopers may seek shelter behind an enemy energy barrier.
  
• Mechanic Rogue Captain - Can spawn up to 4 hologram fake captains. By spawning the holograms the captain will instantly change position (teleport) with one of the holograms to confuse the player.
  
• Framen Rogue Captain - Has a shield which blocks all damage for 10 seconds. Is also equipped with a shotgun with shoots 2 explosive bullets.
  
• Each Rogueship has one Captain which drops a suit upgrade and ammunition if killed.

• Player can return from enemy ships by holding a PDA button
  
• Player can capture resources by entering the corresponding module (storage, biomass tank)
  
• Player can free crew slaves on enemy Alien Research labs, giving that he has a spare rescue chamber on his ship. The cell door shield needs to be destroyed to get access to the crew member.
  
• Player cannot use Terminals on enemy ships (besides Turbolift, Beaming station and Security Gate)
  
• Can use the Building Menu as map, but can not build or destroy modules. The map only shows modules the player already entered and which are connected to the already entered module.
  
• Can use Weapon racks and can retrieve weapons, ammunition, turrets and energy barriers
  
• The PDA shows the scanned resources, sites and turrets of a rogue ship the player is currently infiltrating. Also, the players ship rescue tanks, storage and biomass capacity is visible.

• Added Asus Aura support. At the moment it is turned off by default.
  
• Added an option to the gameplay menu to enable/disable aura ingame.
  
• It is also possible to enable/disable aura in a config file:

• On the players ship the lighting is static in the color of the current ships module.
  
• In case of a module shutdown on the players ship, the lighting is off. A module that is on fire and about to explode will cause a red pulsing light.
  
• If the player shoots, a light will flash in the color of the weapon's projectile.
  
• If aliens are within distance (the alien motion tracker is visible) the lighting will pulsing red.
  
• Planets will cause a static lighting in the planets atmosphere color.
  
• While boarding enemy ships the static lighting will be red.

• If a cluster with a rogue is selected in the galaxy map, an info about the rogue will be displayed similar to the merchant info. The Info contains the rank (depending on the tier) and the name of the rogue captain. There is also an info about the attack strategy of the rogue.
  
• Crew has new comment/grunt sounds.
  
• Crew behavior in alarm state has been improved and animations have been improved.
  
• Crew will now have a higher armor based on their tier if assigned to the hangar (also on planet expedition) or respawn chamber.
  
• Only suit upgrades not distributed to rogue captains are placed on planet sites (depending on the number of captains).
  
• Reduced health of Arachnoid III, Kraul III and Leviathan III
  
• Increased the amount of selectable artefacts at new game. Tier I always has 4, Tier II has 6 and Tier III has 8. Framen, Mechanics and Rocket Star have 8.
  
• Changed Wormholes to be always displayed on the galaxy map but colors change if wormhole is activated.

We've just released a small patch that will hotfix a couple of problems that people have been facing!

• We have fixed the harvester crew sometimes stuck in the harvester ceiling after player comes back from an expedition.
  
• The field of view issues on ultra-wide monitors while using terminals has been resolved.
  
• On PC, walking has now been added and made the default moving speed, with a toggle run button being added which will set people to previous moving speed.
  
• The guard bot health exploit has been fixed. (bots receiving Health from leven lichens)
  
• We have disabled controller vibration on PC while playing with mouse/keyboard.
  
• Aim/Mouse sensitivity can be adjusted lower than before.

We're extremely excited for everyone to get their hands on it! Alongside this release, we are bringing a whole host of different changes to the game that will be available for everyone on PC, with the update coming to consoles in a few weeks. Not only this, but we're excited for the future of Genesis Alpha One as we're hard at work on a bigger update which will be coming in the future!

Since we released on Epic and Consoles, we have released multiple patches which have updated and improved upon the game over the past year which has been lead by player feedback!

In patch 1.02[www.team17.com] we focused on Bug Fixes, Gameplay balancing and a little Quality of Life upgrades!

This includes but not limited to:

• Adding schematics to upgrade your harvester in many different ways like adding additional cargo capacity, to additional shielding or turrets.
  
• Fixing dancing/stuck robotics.
  
• Aliens hiding in the crates from your expeditions.
  
• Made merchants easier to find.

In Patch 2.0[www.team17.com]  we added multiple new features and a few balances and bug fixes.

This includes but not limited to:

• Added Multiple game difficulties.
  
• Maximum robots increased from 5 to 8.
  
• Custom Game Modes.
  
• Added Warbots and Maintenance bots.

• Improved the lightning.
  
• Reworked and improved the graphics in many areas.

• Improved the models for Power Shotgun, Acid Rifle, Mini Flak, Sample Collector, PDA, Rifle Sa1, Minigun, Laser Pistol, Energy Barrier.

• All collected suit upgrades visible in the PDA.
  
• Alien abilities can be selected in the PDA.
  
• Player Character visible in the PDA.

• Improved the animations of the crew and humanoid aliens when hit.
  
• Dead Crew and Aliens will now turn black and slowly dissolve over time.
  
• We've improved the alien blood decals and blood impacts.
  
• Aliens which drop Alien Ability Samples will now drop random 1-3 samples instead of 1.
  
• Added two more Lichens:  Guston and Portare.

• Each Rogue Commander has a strategy which is randomly defined when the galaxy gets created. This will determine how the Rogue Troopers which beam on board the player's ship will perform. It is possible that they steal resources from storages or the biotank, or only attack crew and energy nodes or randomly all of that.
  
• Rogues stop looting when they looted goods worth 10 iron.
  
• Player will be able to intercept Rogue Trooper chatter which is displayed in the players Hud to hint the player about the Rogue Trooper targets.
  
• Rogue Troopers may now crouch when moving towards the player if attacking.
  
• Humanoid Enemies can now take cover. They take may now take cover if they have nothing to do. Defined by the coverpoint they either stand or crouch.

• Improved the Crew AI pathfinding.
  
• We've removed the option to give crew commands on the ship. Instead, the crew will be aggressive by default and will retreat if they have less than 50 health. On planets instead of direct commands, the player can sound an alarm on the harvester to either make the crew harvest or retreat.
  
• Guard Bots show their current command/action in the health bar.
  
• Added a new Bot to the Guard Bots which attacks aliens and can enter the maintenance tunnels but does less damage and has less armour than the warbot, but is significantly faster.

• You can now build an Alien Research module.
  
• You can now capture and research Aliens.
  
• Alien Ability Research moved from the clone lab to the Alien Research module.

• Some modules can now be upgraded using Module Upgrade Kits.
  
• The possible module upgrades are now visible when hovering over them in the building menu. Activated Upgrades will appear brighter.
  
• All modules have been reworked and got their module upgrades.
  
• Added a Module upgrade kit site on planets. These only need to be collected not scanned.

• Plants now decay if not enough gardeners are assigned and they go back to the lowest grow level. With no gardener the lowest grow level is 1, with 1 gardener 2, and so on.
  
• The Planter ring now indicates if plants are healthy (have enough gardeners assigned) or not, by glowing green or blinking red.
  
• Added a line pointing from the statistics part of the greenhouse terminal to the plants.
  
• Plants can now spread to other empty planters if gardeners are assigned, in time.
  
• Plants now do not decay on the easy difficulty.
  
• Decaying plants now show a different material and particle.
  
• Added a Crew hint about decaying if decaying is active.
  
• Added a hint about plant seeds.

• The Slime no longer grows out of view and you can watch it grow in realtime.
  
• Slime nests now fit in with the environment better.
  
• The dirt decals at alien eggs now vanish if the eggs are destroyed.

• Refinery process effects have been improved.
  
• Corridor maintenance Area Glitch fixed where player could look outside the ship in long corridors. Now the view fades black instead.
  
• The following modules have been polished/reworked (Workshop I,II,III, Refinery small & big, Storage, Hangar, Stahlunion Bridge, Lounge, Stahlunion Corridors, Greenhouses, Bio tank big and small, shield).
  
• You can now assign crew to the reactor increasing the energy of the reactor by 4. Also added crew hint.
  
• You can now assign crew to the shield increasing the shield recovery rate slightly. Also added crew hint.

• Added a Suit upgrade artefact that will show Sites and Harvester on the Alien Tracker.

• New Player HUD instead of the 3D arm device.
  
• The Ship Status Terminal UI was reorganised to help present the data more clearly.
  
• The refinery terminal UI was reorganised to make which resource is refined in which material more clear.
  
• Players can now choose Hud Color in Gameplay options.
  
• A new font is now used for the player HUD and button hints.

• Raw Materials have been renamed removing the "ore".
  
• Refined Materials have been renamed to have more descriptive names.
  
• In the Resource Location category, the refined materials are now listed. Planet resources show the refined material behind the actual raw material.

• The UI of the build menu has been cleaned up.
  
• The module limits are now presented as rectangles. Empty rectangles show the amount you can still build and filled rectangles show the amount you already have build. Instead of showing boring numbers.
  
• Crew working at reactor or shield will colour the rectangles white.
  
• Available resources and modules are coloured bright.

• Inferno Alien has been polished.
  
• Added a new resource called Radiation Blue, this can only be found on debris and planets and is needed for all types of research (clone, alien abilities, weapons, diseases, aliens).
  
• Improved performance in the way aliens is rendered in the shipbuilding mode.
  
• Reworked IDA Hologram - Optimized that IDA to only spawn once and not every time player enters a different module. Also, Call Ida button now is greyed out if IDA is already active.
  
• Deposit crates will be moved upon destruction by the player - Giving enough space left in other deposits, the crates will be instantly moved when the player destroys a deposit module. The warning only appears if there is not enough space left in other deposits for moving all deposit crates.
  
• Current deposit space visible on Building Menu - When hovering over a build deposit module, the current used deposit space is visible to the player.
  
• Categories can be closed - Selecting a category in the building menu on terminals or the PDA again will close the opened category.
  
• Skybox texture has been improved.
  
• Module limits info in Building Menu - If a module has a limit of how many can be built at a time, it is visible in the shipbuilding menu.
  
• IDA Module Info Messages don't play again - Ida messages get saved and do not play again when continuing a game.
  
• Updated Unreal engine to 4.23.

The Deluxe Edition release on Steam will include a couple of additions, these are:

When you die, you will carry over all the artefacts that you’ve unlocked in the previous run, meaning your chances at performing a Genesis should hopefully increase.

You might be wondering what this announcement means for Steam users and we will be able to update you in the near future but we can confirm that Genesis Alpha One will not be launching on Steam on January 29th 2019. We understand that this will be frustrating to some of you who have supported the game since it was revealed, and we are extremely thankful for all your suggestions and feedback.

The team are still hard at work putting together the final touches and incorporating some great new features into Genesis Alpha One and we hope you continue to be as excited as we are for it. At this time, we are making sure we put everything into realising our fullest vision of the game. As a result, we have suspended work on the playable preview. Again, we understand this might be disappointing, and this was a tough decision to make but we believe this will help Genesis Alpha One get off to the best possible start. Once the game launches, we may be able to reassess the playable preview later down the line.

Hello everyone,

You may have seen the Magmanon alien in our minigun clip so we just wanted to give you a little more information around this hostile species.

Their mixture of rock and lava bodies means they can withstand quite a lot of damage, so upgraded guns or ensuring you have plenty of ammo will be key in taking them down quickly.

While the Magmanon’s fire rate is quite slow, its projectiles are powerful and can cause significant splash damage, so be on the move constantly when you come across them.
