  • Fixed a crash that could occur when switching weapons as Armsmaster while firing a ringshot razor
  • Razor shouldn't crash when you run out of ammo as Chaos Ship, either
  • Prototype Genocide AB active buffed from 6 charges required to 2.
  • Nerfed some attacks on Warden, especially on loops
  • Razors now deal increased damage at a lower firing rate - they were very overtuned after their QOL improvements in last week's patch.
  • Fixed a bug that resulted in Microcore's boss title not appearing at the start of the fight.
  • Fixed a bug where you could teleport out of the boss room after using the Handheld game.
  • The Glowing Rune cartridge now instantly reveals bosses and minibosses when picked up.
  • Scrambler AB active can no longer destroy off-screen weapons in shops.

  • Fixed certain destructible bullet spreads not properly marking bullets as destructible and vice-versa.
  • Electromancer's hardmode behaviour no longer scales on loops.
  • Electromancers fire significantly fewer bullets on loops.
  • Stormlashes fire similarly fewer bullets on loops.
  • Bumpers fire less bullets on loops when colliding/dying/as a result of being in Hardmode.
  • Bane Engines fire a reduced number of revenge bullets on loops.
  • Swarm Hosts extrude fewer bullets on loops.
  • Drones project a lower volume bullets on loops in a wider spread.
  • Drastically reduced the quantity of revenge bullets produced by Red Halos/Malice Engines on loops.
  • Shufflers fire a smaller number of bullets at a wider spread on loops.
  • Adjusted the balance of several Floor 1 and 2 Strange Rooms.
  • Fixed a couple crashes relating to Sokobash.
  • Fixes to Banshee pathfinding behavior.
  • Fixed an issue where Armor Tac never actually used any loop behavior. Also just made the boss cooler in general.

  • Special Offer now has better feedback when "damaged".

  • Fixed an issue where max loop was not properly saved when you continued looping.
  • Arcades will no longer repeatedly upgrade two cartridges into each other.
  • Added more floor-specific shortcut layouts.
  • Items in some shortcuts are no longer destroyed when leaving the room.
  • Fixed a crash involving splitting swarmers in the database fight.
  • One of the new bosses will no longer draw its attack indicators behind the boss.
  • Nautilus properly destroys fire bullets.

Feb 23rd Bugfix Patch

  • Skully now has 300 base ammo, up from 225 (33% increase). However, Skully's reload time is only reduced by 10% instead of 20% while he has ammo.
  • Fixed a crash involving quitting to menu while having Contract.
  • Gorynich's chain lightning works again, additionally the thunderhead should be fully sized again
  • Fixed an issue with razor firing under niche conditions
  • Gun with no name can now target the same destructible block multiple times. Additionally, it will only target an enemy or block exactly enough times to kill it.
  • Salvage's tooltip no longer incorrectly scales the damage up bonus from salvaging unique weapons
  • The Daemon that appears in gauntlets has a better telegraph
  • Fixed an issue where skipping the credits would fail to award one of the ending achievements
  • Pipeipedes should definitely no longer crash for sure definitely
  • Cartridges now cost less in shops.
  • The mini bane-engines in Gauntlet now take longer to spawn in so you should be able to get out of the way now.
  • Shopkeepers display hack window again
  • Cardboard Bloke's stand is correctly unstable again.
  • Tweaks to the behavior of the Iron Fist unique weapon
  • Nerfs to Grasp of Entropy while playing as Skully
  • Fixed an issue where you'd get the World Record achievement early
  • Fixed the ability to fire deployment array into walls.
  • Adjusted a couple of rooms on floor 6.

Bugfix/Balance Update: Feb 22nd

  • Fixed lasers visually lagging behind player
  • Storm blessing can no longer spawn two of the same pickup
  • Frost blessing triggers its counter attack on both layers of shield
  • Homing lasers should no longer freeze the game
  • Removed an issue where armsmaster could fire with an ammoless weapon with packrat and frame perfect swapping
  • Skully no longer uses twice as much ammo when he has runes
  • Reduced the rate at which the player damage softcap scales from one per 10% damage to once per 20% damage (you will continue to get 4% damage until 140% total damage instead of 130%, and 3% until 160%, at which point you will start getting 2% damage up.
  • You can no longer sometimes end up with a basic sword if you're not overlord
  • Fixed a bug where getting a certain secret weapon would crash the game the next time a weapon dropped
  • fixed an issue where breaches and vault doors broke on a later game floor
  • Gun with no name should be able to open things more reliably
  • Fixed all the issues with phasing weapons and blocks hopefully
  • Fixed an issue where blocks displaced by Sokobash could result in floating water.

Good morning, afternoon, or evening! We have some big news to share with you today.

We know you have been waiting for quite some time. Relics of the Past released on Christmas of 2019, just over 5 years ago. Not to mince words, but it's been an eventful half-decade. While that's been going on, we've been quietly (or loudly, if you've been following our Social Media or in the Discord[discord.gg]) working away on the game.

Nonetheless, it's finally time.

Star of Providence will be dropping on the Nintendo Switch on February 20th, 2025. At the same time, Steam will get everything new in the form of the Minor Content Update, Into Oblivion.

Here's what you can expect to find once it's out:
  • 2 new upgrades.
  • 1 new playable character.
  • 5 new normal enemies.
  • More new bosses than enemies for some reason.
  • 13 new unique weapons.
  • 20 new cartridges.

Advanced Geomancy!

A very cool team of fans have finished something they have been working on for a very long time - Advanced Geomancy: an extremely polished room editor for Star of Providence!

Going forward it will be considered "official" and we would like to do some work with them to integrate it. In the meantime, you can download the editor here:

Renaming and DLC Consolidation

Good morning/afternoon/evening/night (go to sleep, you), Monolith fans.

We have recently been... made aware of a legal situation regarding the name of the game. Specifically, it was trademarked in 2015 by Warner Bros—we assume this has to do with their subsidiary game studio, Monolith Productions, but we aren't sure.

We haven't heard anything from Warner Bros, and it's possible we never would. But we have some big plans in store for later this year, and it's not worth the risk of getting a C&D, so we will be renaming the game sometime in the next month.

We'll be taking advantage of the situation to deal with an unrelated, but long-standing issue. Relics of the Past has long been considered by far the superior version of the game, but many players start out without it and consequently miss out on its plethora of quality of life improvements and general gameplay/balance changes. Once the name change rolls out sometime in the next month, we will also be making Relics of the Past the default version of the game—the base game will cost $15 and the DLC will be included. Because we don't want to simply do away with something that has remained available for the better part of a decade, After the End will still be available as a separate Steam branch accessed from the Betas menu. This does mean that anyone who owns the base game but not RotP will effectively get the latter for free—consider this period a sale, if you like.

This will be a strange transition period, but I'm very excited about what we have in store. See you on the other side.

Monorail 3!

In a little under one hour's time (10AM PST, 1 PM EST), the third Monorail Racing event will begin at https://www.twitch.tv/MonorailRacing!
