I try to run this game, and every time I hit play, it says that its "updating executable". It wont actually start the game though. Help???

Hi All, I had troubles with just starting the game. After clicking play, nothing happened but there were information that exe file is updating or something. After reading about possible solutions I tried one thing: Went to the folder Steam\steamapps\common\Duke Nukem Forever\Redist and installed 2005 version from VC2005 folder, run as administrator (2008 was already installed). Do i need to buy the DLC in order to achieve 100% ?? or just base game is enough? thanks

This game literally went from being "one of the worst games of all time" to "one of the hidden gems" or something like that. What is up with sudden love for the game that, as people put it, "killed" Duke Nukem IP?
