Seems fun at first. But once you select the medium AI, the game begins cheating like crazy. It becomes much less fun. Not saying you should avoid it, but it's often quite demoralizing to realize that no matter how many bases you have purchased, you will never be able to line up three or four like the AI does, or that as soon as you set out 2 bases, its attack output suddenly jumps by at least 10 and your bases will go bye-bye. I never play two games in a row, unlike almost all the other quick and fun games I own.

I always found this an enjoyable challenge, and a puzzle to work out how to win the harder game. I like the way you are given different challenges and easily can add your own without it becoming unstructured. Perhaps all the expansions aren't quite as good as each other, and although they a fairy priced one-by-one, it's clearly expensive to buy them all together.

Maybe some more life can be added to the single player experience by offering a package deal to new players (ie like the board game box)? And also by releasing a new campaign? This is surely the longest gap they've had. Hopefully Wise Wizard are not focusing primarily on the ever-Beta Hero Realms now. Although I liked a few things about that game I really disliked it's online casino-style vibe, and ultimately prefer Star Realm's scifi theme - pretty shallow though that is tbh, is as it's really all about the card play with some mellow background atmosphere.

I play the real version of this nearly every day and love it. But if you want a digital version that aggressively dunks on you like Jordan on a toddler while the ref hands him extra free throws, this is the game for you. The AI just cheats. Perfect hands, ridiculous trades, zero room for real strategy. The campaign is just rigged. The AI needs a complete rework to make this fun instead of frustrating.
