The Final Station é um jogo que estava pegando poeira na minha biblioteca; porém sempre tive curiosidade de jogar.

Ao fazê-lo tive a grata surpresa de me deparar com um enredo bem intrigante.
Não há nada de surpreendente aqui. A história se passa num futuro distópico onde humanos são infectados por algo desconhecido, muito provavelmente de algo alienígena. Você, como maquinista, precisa salvar passageiros, levar informações e, o mais importante, uma arma pra ser usada contra essa infeção (ou ataque?) alienígena.
Você passa por diversos lugares, conhece pessoas (mesmo que os diálogos sejam bem simples), coleta e fabrica itens, abate infectados e mais.
O final do jogo é triste, no qual você morre infectado. Mas é para uma boa causa, cumprindo assim seu objetivo de salvar (ou ao menos tentar) a raça humana.

A mecânica é simples e cumpre seu papel. Você só caminha, atira e interage com pessoas e coisas, nada mais. Não dá pra correr nem escalar objetos, por exemplo. Mas isso não torna a experiência ruim.
No decorrer do jogo você vai lendo bilhetes, mensagens, e-mails etc, além de conversar com algumas pessoas, pra entender o que está acontecendo.

O visual é pixelado, e bem forte por sinal. Porém há bastante atenção aos detalhes.
A música e efeitos sonoros são bem trabalhados.




Se um desses pontos se destacar, pra mim já valeu a pena, e The Last Station se sai muito bem na trama intrigante que te faz querer ir até o final para ter as respostas.

An interesting game, that IMO just misses the mark.

There are two segments to the game, the train portion and the 'land' portion.
In the train portion you have to fix the occasional problem via minigame and keep any passengers you've picked up alive.
The 'land' portion has two different versions, depending on the station you're at. Either a combat or a non-combat level.
In both you basically walk from left to right and pick up items and talk to people, if there are enemies you will shoot or punch them.
You can't jump, but you can climb ladders to progress vertically. Aiming uses a similar system to Abuse where the mouse cursor determines where you're aiming. Only not too high or too low but only in an arc.

Neither the train nor the 'land' sections are particularly interesting or fun.
On the train you're just reading what the passengers are saying and occasionally play one of maybe five minigames to fix an electrical issue.
When you're off the train you're just walking from left to right until you get the code you need to start the train again.
Combat isn't exciting and there are I think four different enemies.
All of this means there are two boring gameplay loops that alternate until the end of the game.
Stare at the screen and play a minigame or two, walk from left to right with some boring combat with a slightly awkward aiming system and back to the left once you have the code. Rinse, repeat.

The story, what there is, is actually kind of interesting. It's told via NPCs and in-world mail and notes.
It's not the most original story ever, but it's still a fun one page sci-fi story.

So, would I recommend it?
No.
Steam's review system being what it is, I'll have to pick recommend because I don't think it deserves a 'bad' rating.
But the gameplay is too boring and repetitive and the train sections are only there so the passengers can spout some exposition. It feels like it could've been good, but as it is it's very meh.

Jogão viu, segui a recomendação de um amigo que jogou e zerou esse jogo em um dia quando o game chegou na Game Pass do Xbox. Um ótimo jogo sidescroller de sobrevivência tanto em questão de gameplay, quanto em ambientação. A lore não é muito bem explicadinha se você não ler todos os arquivos e conversas dos personagens do trem e das diversas áreas que tu passa pra entender TUDO que ta acontecendo, se você jogou mas não entendeu muito da história do game, recomendo ver o vídeo do Tropia "FINAL STATION: A PÉROLA ESQUECIDA DOS JOGOS DE SOBREVIVÊNCIA" pra entender um pouco mais (não vale assistir o vídeo sem jogar essa pedrada, tu vai ficar um pouco perdido).

Esqueci também de ressaltar sobre a ambientação e as músicas desse game, os dois se complementam muito bem na jogatina e faz parecer que cada soundtrack tocada tem um significado único em si. Acho bizarro isso, mostra que você não precisa de gráficos mirabolantes e outras features de next-gen pra fazer um jogo TÃO BOM!

Ah, esqueci de mais um detalhe: Esse jogo tem a lore é bem parecida com a de Neon Genesis Evangelion kkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

I LOVED THIS GAME!!!!! I totally understand why some people wouldn't like this game. It is definitely hit a home run or totally miss. I loved everything about this though. The visual storytelling was amazing, I enjoyed all of the combat, and all of the sounds were very satisfying. It felt REALLY good mowing down enemies whenever I did. If this game intrigues you at all I heavily recommend at least giving it a trial run, you may end up loving it like I did. This is definitely worth it on sale at least. 9/10

Intriguing game. Fun combat mechanics, and a mysterious storyline.

Wow, I need a sequel. This gameplay formula, atmosphere, music, and artstyle, but setup for a longform play session (ideally a infinite survival setting) would be amazing. My mind is full of ideas of how this could be expanded upon to keep a solid cashflow for the devs. I haven't played the dlc yet but I'm about to.

I suppose my only complaint for the game is that it has left me wanting more, which is the best compliment I could give a game.
