I try to launch it and it crashes because it says it cannot sync to steam... I am so confused.

Hi, I'm in Dyonizio Park after going through the first parts and picking up a Little Sister I reappear in the regeneration machine when I die, The thing is that I stop using some weapons, I can only use the drill, the hacking machine and the movie camera. I bought both remasters when they came out, but while the first game was patched to the point where I could play it, I gave up on this one before it got to that point. Now many years later, I'm looking to clean up my list of unplayed games. Is it worth starting this one now? Or should I give up on ever playing it? I would much rather not start than get a quarter of the way through before having to give up due to crashes....
