I'm sure this review will get buried under thousands of similar reviews, but, genuinely, this is one of the greatest games of all time. I had not played it when it initially came out almost 20 years ago and only recently gave it a chance. I have never been the brightest when it came to puzzle games but have recently been trying to play through some of the most popular games of all time to at least experience them and this game was on the list. It is now tied for my favorite video game series of all time (The other game series being kingdom hearts). The way the levels slowly add to the complexity, allowing the player to learn at a solid pace is masterfully done. I also began learning to speedrun Portal because I have always loved a challenge and the bhopping movement is very natural to me because of my time spent on CS:GO. Another aspect I loved was the way the story telling is not in your face through cutscenes like in JRPGS like Kingdom Hearts. Instead, you play through the game and the set design tells the story in a more subtle manner. It makes me want to find other games that tell their stories in a similar way and play through those as well. Genuinely a great experience and worth the money.
