Football Manager 2016 Winter Transfer Update 16.3.0 OUT NOW!

After the closure of an eventful Winter Transfer Window, the Football Manager Winter Transfer Update is now available for download. You will have to start a new game to enable the use of the updated data.

For those of you hoping to continue your current save game, as always the update is save game compatible. If you find it doesn't download immediately, we'd suggest closing down Steam and restarting it to prompt the update.

The update changelist includes but is not limited to the fixes which can be found listed below.

STABILITY & PERFORMANCE
- Fixed crash on Linux when using multiple monitors
- Fixed rare crash during processing
- Fixed rare crash with Dutch league play-off match
- Fixed rare crash with Belgian European Play-off match

MATCH ENGINE
- Stop keepers punching the ball when making a save from a penalty
- Prevent a player from taking a throw in from behind the goal line
- Give more time at the end of the match when a team wins a competition
- Fixed missing commentary for competition win at the end of a shootout
- Fixed throw in issue which caused dead time

USER INTERFACE
- Fixed 'Potential' and 'Ability' filters showing incorrect players on Scouting page
- Fixed use of Match Analysis time bar during a match
- Fixed code showing in calendar when using Greek language
- Fixed rare issue where no conversation options presented when interacting with homesick player
- Fixed rare warning popup when interacting with player
- Fixed player faces sometimes appearing blue on Competition Stats panels after a match

COMPETITIONS & RULEGROUPS
- Fixed issue where user was not asked to name their Copa Sudamericana squad
- Fixed issues with removing players from the Disabled List in MLS
- Fixed incorrect generation of Under 19 teams in MLS
- Fixed rare instances of User not being able to participate in the MLS Superdraft
- Improved AI squad building and Designated Player signing in MLS
- Fixed issue where Yellow Cards in Brazillian leagues were incorrectly counted towards Brazilian Cup suspensions

TRANSFERS & CONTRACTS
- Fixed issue where some nations would start qualifying campaigns without a manager in place
- Fixed instance of sacked manager remaining in role
- Fixed instances of players not being removed from the transfer list after the player has requested to be removed
- Fixed instance of staff rejecting transfer offers for user's player despite not being instructed to do so
- Improved manager hirings in leagues that have been activated via the editor
- Improved the retention of goalkeepers by the AI throughout different squads
- Improved AI transfer & contract negotiations
- Fixed issue where Individual training for players returning from loan could be forgotten

TRAINING
- Improving effectiveness of Positional Training
- Fix for Allow Rest Before/After Match re-selecting itself
- Fix for Position/Role field returning blank

BOARD
- Improved long term board confidence to update club expectations
- Fixed issue where multiple ëBoard return feeder club verdictí news items were generated into the users inbox

STANDALONE EDITOR
- Fixed various crashes on specific Editor files
- Fixed specific instances of competitions not scheduling correctly in edit files
- Improved several error messages to be more helpful

IN GAME EDITOR
- Fixed issue with background kit not updating quickly enough to show the change when edited

NETWORK
- Fixed match score divergence between PC & Mac
- Fixed Must Respond timer issues
- Fixed Break Request issues

TOUCH MODE
- Fixed rare example of save game failing to load

- Fixed issue where Create a Club team names would be used instead of the userís club that earned the score

A Football Manager 2016 update (v16.2.0) is now available to download.

To get the update simply quit and restart Steam and your game should update to version 16.2.0.

Updates include but are not limited to the following:

TECH AND PERFORMANCE

Improved match performance on Retina displays
Fixed rare crash on staff responsibilities screen
Fixed crash when trying to send assistant manager to tunnel interviews when no assistant appointed
Fixed game not launching in Full Screen modes on certain system setups
Fixed processing panel not disappearing when using alt-tab
Fixed attributes pop-up ordering attributes alphabetically by abbreviation not by full name
Fixed captain icon not displaying in-match
Fixed Ctrl+F shortcut

GAMEPLAY

Improvements to AI transfer & contract negotiations
Players will no longer count being rested for minor cup games towards first team football unhappiness
Fixed issue where players would complain about being left out of a training camp squad when they were away on international duty
Fixed players asking for a new contract and then being unwilling to sign one

MATCH ENGINE

Improved defending of full backs who were tucking in inappropriately
Improved behaviour of backline when deciding to cover out of position players
Prevented ball getting stuck in the crossbar
Fixed instances of goalkeepers being stranded out of goal after being called over to be booked
Fixed some examples of dead time after ball is returned from a throw in following an injury
Improved system of players taking a penalty when on a hat-trick
Fixed some instances of poor back passes and goalkeepers lack of reaction to them
Fixed some problems with Specific Man Marking instruction
Refined referee decision making on offside calls
Improved defenders behaviour when reacting to a ball they are favourite to win
Improved goalkeeper decisions to parry ball back into play when they could let the ball go out
Improved goalkeeper decisions on when to come off their line
Improved accuracy of shots on goal
Refined passing decision making to reduce instances of unnecessary direct and rushed passes
Fixed some instances of a goal being awarded when the shot had hit the bar and not gone in

GRAPHICS

Improved Retina graphics benchmarking (requires cleared cache & preferences)
Fixed issue with black ball on Macs
Fixed extreme and sudden change from rain to shine

IN-GAME EDITOR

Age, Nationality and Wage editable on Profile page for Staff and Players
Fixes to help custom skin compatibility

STANDALONE EDITOR

Fixed Belgium league rules failing verification checks without being edited
Fixed a few editing kit colours issues
Fixed issue with stadium editing which caused some User files to crash
Fixed edit files using the wrong start date when extracted in to the game
Fixed various unhelpful error messages when verifying files
Fixed some crashes on verification on specific files
Fixed some issues extracting certain data edits in to the game

NETWORK

Fixed divergence of results when playing network game between Mac & PC

TOUCH MODE

Fixed obscure nations topping World Rankings at the start of new games

CREATE A CLUB MODE

Fixed created clubs keeping affiliations preventing them from being promoted.
Fixed created clubs not displaying their own kits on Team of the Week.

FANTASY DRAFT MODE

Fixed issue where fantasy draft budget left over is calculated incorrectly

Football Manager 2016 Out Now!

For those who have been enjoying the pre-release Beta, simply quit and restart Steam and your game will automatically update to the full version. Any career progress you made during the Beta can be carried forward when your game is finished updating.

If you're new to FM, or need a friendly nudge in the right direction, here's how to install for the first time:

If you haven’t received or have misplaced your Beta code, please speak to your retailer as a starting point. If they can’t resolve your issue then please contact SEGA customer services at [email protected] with proof of purchase, and we’ll aim to get you playing as quickly as possible.

Football Manager 2016 Beta

The Football Manager 2016 Beta is now available to play for those who have pre-purchased from a participating digital retailer.

For the first time ever, the Beta features network play – allowing managers to play against each other in online games including one of the new game modes for 2016, Fantasy Draft.

As always, any career progress you make during the Beta will carry forward when the game updates upon full release*, which is November 13th.

If you haven’t yet pre-purchased Football Manager 2016[www.humblebundle.com] you can do so now and get immediate Beta access, as well as the Football Manager Documentary for free**

Digital pre-purchase (Steam)
If you pre-purchased from Steam, your Beta download should automatically start when you launch the game from your Steam Library

Digital pre-purchase (non-Steam)
If you pre-purchased from any other participating digital provider, your code should have been sent to you via email*** and you will need to follow the instructions below to activate:
1. Open the Steam client (if you haven’t yet downloaded Steam or created an account, you can do so here)
2. On the top toolbar, click 'Games’
3. Select 'Activate a Product on Steam'
4. Follow the instructions and input your code to install the FM16 Beta

Before you dive in and get familiar with the Beta, the last thing we’ll say is that this is not the finished article and certain aspects of game play may well change ahead of full release on November 13th. If you do spot any issues, please report these immediately on our forum in the relevant area.
