Alpha Protocol is an interesting game that mixes espionage with RPG elements. It’s got a unique take on player choice and branching storylines, and while it may not always execute its ideas flawlessly, it’s still a highly enjoyable and surprisingly deep experience if you’re into narrative-driven gameplay where your decisions actually matter.

Your dialogue options, relationships with characters, and actions during missions all influence the world around you, leading to different story outcomes, character fates, and even how certain plot points unfold. While it doesn’t always feel like the consequences are as impactful as they could be, there’s a real sense of agency that keeps things engaging.

The combat system feels clunky and can be frustrating. It’s not the smoothest experience, and some of the mechanics feel outdated. Some of the missions can feel repetitive too, especially when you’re forced to slog through areas that are visually a bit dull.

The character progression is quite fun. There’s a lot of room for customization in how you approach your build. I chose being a stealth infiltrator and it felt quite rewarding to see how nicely it complemented my playstyle.

Alpha Protocol is a solid game that offers a memorable, if imperfect, experience. If you’re into story-driven titles where choices matter, it’s definitely worth a shot, even if it doesn’t always shine in the more technical aspects.

This game had aspects I love, but I found the last mission with the helicopter too difficult on the easiest setting. I uninstalled it without completing the game. After 10 tries, I just didn't want to attempt it anymore. If I am playing a game on easy, I expect to be able to complete the game. $14 and I can't finish the game. Maybe I'll try again in a few months. There are more fun games to play.

Really good game from Obsidion. Has some good ideas built in or taken from Mass Effect. The characters and story are interesting, as the setting is pretty unused for an RPG.
