Being a fan of theme parks, Virtual Towers Online is an exciting experience. It lets you explore a replica of Alton Towers, which feels very immersive. The attention to detail in the rides and the park itself is impressive, and the ability to operate the attractions is a unique touch. Whether you want to stroll through the park or ride the coasters, it offers a lot of fun. Definitely recommended for those who love both simulations and theme park experiences!

I wanna start by saying that this is a really good re-creation of Alton Towers (the park this is based on) it looks pretty much 1:1 with the real thing but it needs a lot of work in the performance department.

I'm running it on an RTX 4070 SUPER with a Ryzen 5700X. On medium settings @ 1080p i get 30-40 FPS, i get the same FPS on medium and high settings so it seems the game itself is the bottleneck, they’re so close to having a great game but the performance is just disappointing.

Hopefully by 2026 i’ll be able to change this review to a thumbs up, but at the time of posting it’s a hard pass if you don't have access to NASA supercomputers.

There is something so absolutely breathtaking about recreating scenes from your youth, things that made you happy and created so many memories, into a seemingly immortal medium. I can imagine a world where my childhood theme park doesn't exist anymore, or parts of it don't, and I wished I could re-live it somehow. Booting up this game and riding a few rides gave me a glimpse into that feeling. I know that if I were in those shoes I would feel something that I thought was gone.

Now I don't know the status of this theme park in real life so maybe I'm just assuming, but I don't care. Seeing projects like this give me a clear window into just how rich every human being's life is. Everyone has a story, has memories, has regrets, and have things they would love to recreate and hold on to. I remember moving stations for the military and moving for work, and doing a last walk around the place just to take it all in knowing I will most likely never come back here again. Knowing that this will be my last experience with this place, this chapter of my life is ending.

As much as we rush to the end of our story. As much as we wish to get to the good parts. I often look back at the passages I've highlighted in my book, the pages worth bookmarking. Games like this are dazzling bookmarks tucked in someone's library.
