I almost can’t believe it: Slick Entertainment is a decade old!

In the last 10 years we’ve made a bunch of great games, and I am super proud of what we’ve achieved with our small team: 4 fun games, custom C++ engine on 6 different platforms, 3 games feature online multiplayer, all hand-drawn art for the last 2 games. That’s a lot of stuff!

At the same time running Slick has been a huge roller coaster of emotions. Every emotion in the Robert Plutchik’s list of emotions has been present in one way or another. There have been a lot of ups and downs, and after a decade of dealing with all the intricacies of running a business, we've decided to just concentrate on the fun part: making the games. That’s why we’ve made the decision to join the successful world-class studio, Klei Entertainment.

To many of our fans it will come as no shock that Slick and Klei have a long history that started well before either company was even started. Jamie Cheng and I worked together at Relic Entertainment, and we remained friends after Jamie set off on his own to start Klei. Then the N+ project came along, but Klei had other commitments at the time. So Jamie called me to see if I would want to start a company to do the project, and this is how Slick Entertainment was started.

Over the years we have worked together on numerous occasions. We watched Klei grow from a small startup to a professional studio with an amazing level of quality, support and community. With us joining Klei, we intend to extend those qualities to the games we’ve released. We’ll mainly be working on making great new games, but don’t worry, we’ll still support the current games.

Lastly, and most importantly; I’d like to thank all of you for the decade of support. It’s been an amazing journey and we couldn’t have done it without you!

Oh no, the Draugr are ruining Christmas!

You will find a special event active on the world map between December 22nd and January 1st. Stop the Draugr from taking all the presents from Holiday Island and you might just get more than a lump of coal!

Hello fellow vikings,

Today we have a fun update for the holidays! Along with some fixes, we are introducing a system called World Events. These add a little bit of variety in the way you choose to level up your characters! New players going through the game for the first time will have more options when going back to level up in previous levels. While veteran players will find a few new options when taking on hard mode.

We hope you enjoy the update!

• World Events have been added to the world map. These events place unique treasures or NPC's on levels you have beaten. Active events change every time you leave the village so choose wisely.
  
• Stat Gems have been added to the game. Stat gems are sold by a new black market NPC and increase a players stats by a small amount for each one collected. Players can also earn stat gems through other means, so stay on the lookout for them!
  
• Several holiday timed world events have been added to the game. Stay tuned for more info!
  
• Fixed some minor issues that could cause music to stop playing.
  
• Fixed some small collision issues in the catacombs.

Hello Vikings, we have a new update for you!

This patch fixes a network issue players have reported. It also comes with some balancing tweaks for various enemies and drops throughout the game. Read more about it below!

• Fix for network issue where in rare circumstances clients would not see each other

• Tuned enemies and encounters throughout game based on user feedback
  
• Balancing and behavior tweaks to Loki boss fight
  
• Adjusted hit boxes on viking air-x attacks to be more forgiving
  
• Added hints to the squad defeated screen
  
• Various minor collision fixes to objects throughout the game

Hello fellow vikings, we have a new patch including several requested features and bug fixes!

In this update we've added an in game combo list, mouse support to menu screens and balanced a few things based on your feedback. Also stay tuned for some more exciting features in the next few weeks.

Hi everyone, v1.001 is here!

This patch is to fix a few bugs people have been encountering since release. Mainly a save game issue some Russian players are seeing. There are also a few minor balancing tweaks to the shield and hammer Vikings from feedback.

Hi everybody,

The game we've worked hard on the last three years is finally available! It's still the good old brawler you may have played at PSX or PAX, but we've tightened up the controls, improved the visuals, and it now has online as well as local play. In other words, it's the best co-op brawler we could possibly make!

The Steam version is available now for Windows and OSX (and cross play between those platforms)
