Fahrenheit is a game about people who are in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Fahrenheit is the first interactive movie created by the Quantic Dream studio, at least as far as I know.

I've known about this game since I was a kid, my mom used to play it on our PS2 when I was 6 and cant finish it because of job, and then the console was sold, so now I'm really glad we were able to play it together.

From the very beginning, I thought it was a game about a simple guy who lost his mind and was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, but in reality everything turned out to be much more complicated, with elements of mysticism and magic, I can't say that I'm disappointed by this, but I would not be against the first option.

Maybe my opinion will be biased, because I have very pleasant memories with this game, but I will try to write everything as it is.

The plot in the game is not the most interesting, but it is presented perfectly, moments when we see the situation from the face of two or more characters at the same time, or the main character begins to see visions, gave me goosebumps.

The gameplay is quite interesting for an interactive movie, I played with keyboard and mouse so I will speak for the controls, I liked the idea of ​​moving the mouse in different directions for specific actions, the qte are not bad, but when you die near the end of a particularly long one it can be very boring to go through it the second time, the camera control is like in old games (which it is), it may not be convenient for someone, but I got used to it very quickly.

I'm not interested in the graphics, so I can't say anything about it, but it seems to me that it's not bad for 2005 (I don't know if it was changed in the remaster, so I took the date of the first release)

So, Fahrenheit is not a bad game, especially if you take it as a first try in this genre, from this studio I've only played it and Detroit on PS4, and I think it's not bad, especially for its discounted price, I advise everyone to check it out the first game from the studio and I give it 8\10.

the game starts off with a pretty gripping hook, which it proceeds to slowly lose through questionable story beats and goofy fight sequences that i can't help but laugh at the further i got. the first 1/3 of the game is great though, i'd say it's worth it if you can get it on sale for dirt cheap!

Don’t play this game unless:
a) You have masochistic tendencies,
b) You enjoy old games.

The game tells a very intriguing story that keeps you engaged. The music, editing and cutscenes can be genuinely impressive (by 2005 standards, of course). But that’s about it for the positives.

The graphics haven’t aged well. While this isn’t always a dealbreaker, the facial animations of the characters are downright laughable and can ruin the immersion (e.g., when someone’s mouth suddenly stretches into a banana-like shape only to snap back to normal).

The QTEs (Quick Time Events) are terribly executed. Not only do they pop up in the most unexpected and nonsensical moments (for example, the developers apparently decided that one particular conversation was too slow, so they shoehorned in random button-mashing between lines of dialogue), but I also found them quite difficult, even on the easy difficulty setting (though that might just be a matter of getting used to them).

The camera work is also frustrating. It frequently makes your head spin and leaves you unsure of where to go or what to do.

I recommend buying it on sale, provided you’re not bothered by the game’s age. It took me 12 hours to complete the game and earn all 17 achievements.

This is it. This is the greatest game in the world.

Well, this is an interesting one.

Ritual sacrifice. Possession. Ancient mysteries. Oracles and supernatural powers.

You get to play as both the "innocent" murderer, and the detectives investigating it, where your progress and the decisions you make influence the rest of the game. (Well, in these types of games, feeling like your decisions matter is more important than them actually mattering. But, here your decisions do at least impact the story.)

All of that should make this game a winner. And in some sense, it does. But you really need to be able to look past the game's quirks.

First of all, the pros: I think the story is good. Kept me intrigued and wanting to play more. I think that's the most important quality for this kind of "interactive movie", so for that alone I'd recommend it. Then, I think the "timed" scenarios were the best, where you feel pressurised to figure out what to do. And failing is very forgiving, you get to retry without much lost time. Lastly, it has the most sex scenes of any story game I've played. Very blocky and pixelated sex scenes, but sex scenes nonetheless. We take those.

Now, there are some cons, and I can see how it'll be easy to be overly critical and not enjoy the game. So, here are some conditions under which I can in fact recommend the game:

One: you have to like the old game aesthetic. It was released in 2005, and despite the remaster in 2015, it really does feel old. Not quite Deus Ex 1 old, but almost. With that said, I wouldn't really want it to be any more modern. The old aesthetic has its own charm, and it fits the game and the story quite well.

So, what that means is you have to be willing to put up with some typical "old game" features. Super minor: The other applications you have open will be resized smaller after launching the game, no matter the video settings. Less minor: the camera controls are kinda bad whenever they're in the fixed camera positions (would be better if there was always a free camera mode).

Two: quick time events. If you want to play this game, then be prepared for many, many situations where the screen flashes "Get Ready!", followed by two multicolour up-down-left-right semi-transparent overlays in the center of the screen. And then "Great!" every time you succeed to match the basic directional prompts. It's really front and center, mainly so that you can kinda look past it and continue focusing on the action too.

If you don't like quick time events, then you'll probably just find it tedious. Some scenes there are a lot. But the best thing about this game's QTEs is that they are consistent, predictable, and almost not challenging at all. So you might wish there's a mode to just skip them. And I'm with you on that. But hey, the point of them is just to make the movie cutscenes continue to feel interactive. Your decisions are supposed to matter throughout the game, so, here's some QTEs just to check you're not walking away from the screen. That's about the only purpose they serve. They are basic enough that you can get past them without caring too much, and they'll give you time to philosophise about whether you hate QTEs or not.

Importantly: because of the camera controls, and the QTEs, I opted to play with a controller, because during the tutorial it just felt like the way it was intended to be played. So, I can't really recommend playing this without a controller, since I don't know what the keyboard + mouse experience is like. Prob not as good.

Next: you have to be willing to ignore the deus ex machina plot devices as the story nears its end. The first half of the story is great - loved it. But as things go on a more supernatural bend, then you gotta accept that the developers had some license to tie things together as they wanted. And, just deal with it - don't be too critical, and it's fine. If you wanna be sour, then you can moan about 'muh immersion'. Or, you can be a chad and say it's cool. The choice is yours.

Finally, I'd say it's mostly for people who enjoyed the other games by the developer, Quantic Dream, like Heavy Rain and Detroit: Becoming Human. I found Fahrenheit to be a fun experience, to go back in Quantic's catalogue and see the style of game they made back in 2005. So, that is to say that you have to be in the mood for an interactive movie - where 3/4 of the time you're playing, and the rest is cutscene.

Overall, I'd say it's a pretty good, memorable experience. Can recommend, but really only if you fit the above conditions. Play with a controller. Put up with the QTEs, and deal with the plot devices. Then you're gucci and should have fun.

It gave me about 9 hours of playtime to finish the game and to go to specific chapters and mop up all the achievements. I'd say that's good value for money if you get it on special.

Poměrně dobrý příběh a zajímavé charaktery. Ovládání není tak strašné, pokud při mini hrách zvolíte šipky místo myši. Pár věci by si zasloužilo více dovysvětlit, ale jinak celkově doporučuji.

It is unreal how broken this game is with modern computers. No matter what you do it just keeps crashing. Too many awful Simon Says sections with no explanation as to how many incorrect simons you can get before you fail. So frustrating
