There is a fun concept here, but it needs more time in the oven before I could recommend it. This game uses the exact same unity assets as another game, Supermarket Simulator. Use of unity assets alone isn't a bad thing, or a good thing, but this does give an opportunity for direct comparison between two games using the exact same framework. TCG Card Shop is missing a ton of quality of life features that were added into Supermarket Simulator. As a simple example, when grabbing a box off the storage shelf it will grab the last box placed onto that slot of the shelf, and not the box with the fewest items in it. That's the default behavior of the base unity asset. Since you can only place two boxes per slot you can easily get into a situation where your shelf is full but you have almost no inventory of that item, a problem solved in Supermarket simulator where the box with the fewest items will get pulled first regardless of its position on the shelf. Another direct comparison is the stockers (the employees who stock the shelves). In this game there is very little control over them, and even a "Normal" speed employee walks so slow that they're actually useless as they can't keep even a small shop stocked. There are several others, but this review is long enough as it is.

Other issues the game currently has is it actively punishes you for having a variety of stock, especially in the selling of individual cards. The NPC shoppers do a dice roll on if they'll continue shopping or not, and you will frequently get unlucky that they grab a cheap basic card pack, or a cheap individual card, and won't buy anything else. On the surface that isn't so bad, but when combined with how the game will only generate a limited number of NPC shoppers at the same time, those shoppers that buy a single cheap item is a "waste" and as such forces you towards only carrying expensive items and not selling individual cards (because you can't keep enough expensive cards stocked to fill even a shingle display stand).

Speaking of individual cards, that's one of the main dopamine hits the game can provide where you can open up packs of cards and hope you get lucky with a super rare card (worth thousands). Well, this is one area where it is close to real life in that it is purely RNG based and the odds are exceptionally low. RNG being RNG one player will get hits frequently (thus feel happy and see no problem), while another will never get one. I'm in the latter group, I can open entire cases of card packs and not get a single card worth over $10. I've never gotten a single card wroth more than $50.

Balance is another area that needs looked at, you unlock new items, shop expansions, etc pretty quickly but the money you get does not keep pace, so you have to be very picky on what products you stock and what you do not stock. That fits with the previous issue where you only want to stock the most expensive items, but they did add an update where customers will complain if they can't find something specific.

There is potential here if the developer can learn how to modify the unity assets to address the glaring quality of life issues. They also have an ambitious roadmap, for example adding in the ability to actually play the card game, but time will tell on if they can accomplish it. With the source of so many issues being the base default behavior of the unity assets that have not been modified ... I have serious doubts. My suggestion would be to watch some YouTube videos of people playing the game, and only buy it if what you see right now is worth it. Do not buy into what *might* happen down the road, wait for it to actually happen.

If you do decide to buy the game, the "Auto Set Prices" mod is a requirement. Otherwise every single day you'll have to adjust the prices of every single item in your store as their market price changes daily. It's so unbelievably tedious that without that mod I'd of immediately refunded the game.

My daughter buys Pokemon cards, I play this much cheaper and more satisfying.

Seriously though, I'm enjoying it a lot. I get to run a shop AND engage in infinite gacha while not bankrupting myself IRL.
Can't wait to see improvements and additional features in future!

Suggestions not explicitly in road-map, if the dev would have them:
- Make input of monetary values start with pennies/cents instead of pounds/dollars (I have... made mistakes. Now using Yen)
- Put item count in box on the sides, can then see amount while they're open
- Allow toggle of furniture snapping
- Allow toggle of unhygienic customers and relevant items/furniture
- Product types: Snacks and drinks
- Enhance customer ability to find play table, sometimes they stare at a full one when others are empty
- Customer surveys/requests OR filter review topic, to get a better sense of what stock to buy
- Big ask: Co-op. It would be amazing to play with friends (another game "coming soon" has it as their main selling point)
- Random event: Thieves. High value items attract criminals IRL after all. Allow player to hire security employees
- Minor randomisation of employee stats in GO recruit, allow them to improve as they work in the store

That's all I can think of aside from more variation in this and that.
Even if none of these are implemented, this game is amazing as is. Entirely recommend!

This is my second game as a "simulator" next to farming, i usally don't play these kind of simulator games, my brother was playing a supermarket one and all i kept hearing was beep beep beep....

i was like damn boring in your supermarket but then i saw this game and i was like mmm maybe it's nice since i did open a lot of pokemon packs in the days and seems fun opening them and collect them all and have your own shop and even let ppl play on tables.

So since it was on a discount back then i bought it and i was playing this for several days and it was more fun and addictive gameplay then i thought and expected it to be, same applied for my brother he also bought it and kept playing the next following days.

If you like pokemon or anything trading card related or simulator games then this one is for you.
I saw on the roadmap there will be a possbility to play the game yourself and he got many more things on the roadmap

Like the following:
-Organize Tournament
-Random Events may occur
-More shop product types
-More shelf & table types
-More TCG types
-Playable TCG
-Shop decoration
-Grading card
-Difficulty mode

This game can be a lot of fun and takes some time to progress on the ingame stuff you can buy since you need to be x level

I have some suggestions for improvement of the game:

-QoL improvements-

*Auto open packages without pressing R and holding the mouse for a whole booster box

*Possiblity to ignore certain costumers with trades like i don't wanna trade my card that i only have one for another one, if i have double yes ( should be a option too if double then trade )

*Set standard price for all items
Maybe per category like booster packs and card box and acessories and figures and table top as well

*Possiblity to see the actual prices of the cards at the personal card display cabinets ( and maybe also the actual bought price of the card so you can see how much you got bought or got the card when you first got it)

*Give the possibility to let the workers give priority on certain items first or let them prio empty shelfs first before getting a shelf that only needs 1 item restocked

*Possibility to offer at a trade (do a bid on it anyway for any reason the costumer comes in and wants to trade) on a card that for example a costumer wants to trade for another trade for another card i want to be able to bid on it anyway or maybe trade another card for it (equal of value)

*Maybe add crouch / duck option ? sometimes hard to see cards in my personal card display and getting bottom items too


-Suggestions / Ideas-

*Auction house with bidding option but also buyout / online option to buy and sell your cards with another players but also possible another "NPC" players instead of going to the store.

*Ability to see what cards you are missing from your collection aka look "online" on a wiki / encyclopedia / help page where all the cards are displayed (and show if you have it or not ) and maybe on rarity too and you can search as well and sort them too on rarity and type and price too ( and maybe chance too? about getting them? as in how rare they are)

With that "wiki" page you can also go further with info like about the terramon's abilities and weakness and strenght and what they can become ( evolve ) for the game that is playable itself later on.

* (COOP) Multiplayer but also another functions with online like a auction house?
*I see more people asking about it to get possible option to have a friend be the restocker or the checkout and build a shop together.

*Would be nice to have those online options included i was talking about next to play "online" against your friend or we all go to a friend's "store" and play there.

You could setup a shop or prepare for a event like a tournament too and visit the friend's event / tournament that is going on and join in the tournament too and maybe even play in the finals against one of your friends!

Or go to a possible tournament event in the game that is specially setup (like a holiday event or e-sports tournament and win special cards for it ) and you can battle against another players or NPC's and trade with them that are on the event, possible also some small mini shop stands on the event (small / big / medium) there if people wanna sell cards like a event costing x per hour or day and you can hire ppl too for there while you still maintain your own store and the event is on going but can switch / visit in between

*Able to see at the order page what you have on the shelves and what is in stock and what is in boxes per x product

*More things to do with shop level for yourself or the store or impact on the cards like price or rarity price up like in the events.

Like a possible skill of perk tree for all sorts of things like + 20% more speed for the employers in checkout or restock / gain more speed when drinking coffee in breaks?

Like a skill perk to be able to get a extra employee or unlock a new employee that is not on the recruit list ( there is only one very fast with both at the end for example... not more and in between 1 is fast restock but slow cash register and then 10-15 levels later it is the another way around and then 2x fast for both)

or a perk for more chance on rare or legendary or ghosts cards or a profit increase on sold cards or more luck to complete a trade for a lower price

*I would love to see to be able to go expand the shop in width as well instead of just the length of the store

*Auto self scan register
For higher level store like level 50 + like auto self scan register.

*Maybe some airco against the wall so we have more space instead of the machines that are on the ground

*Possibility to open a store in another city with another recruits and ppl and maybe even layout of the store and surrounding buildings ? where you can find another cards? like cards that a regional based, if online Auction house or something is available you can also buy them there or offer them there.

Same with cards that you could get only during a tournament or a special event ingame like holiday event, you can sell them to another real people too with the auction house for example or bring them along to a friend's store if multiplayer later comes.

I might edit this review with new ideas / suggestions later on depending if play much more, kind of awaiting for more updates but mostly some highly needed QoL ( before some updates rather, like open all cards auto or set prices for all and see what is in stock and not in the order page or some where atleast )

Satisfying and addictive! TCG Card Shop Sim is a fantastic starting point for a great game, it's hard to describe but all you want to do is play more and open more packs. Mods to change the in-game cards to Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh etc just adds icing to the cake.
