This F1 game from Codemasters didn't get good enough reviews simply because it doesn't have a meaty career mode like the other F1 games. It's also less optimized compared to F1 2016. I have a GTX 1080 and the particles still bring down my system to around 40fps on the stormy benchmark. Putting that setting to Medium and the rest to Ultra or High remedies that problem.

If one approaches this game's career like how one plays Assetto Corsa or RaceRoom Racing Experience I think this is the best F1 game yet. Right now I'm playing its championship mode with 100% lenght races. It should tide me up until F1 2017 comes for my F1 fix.

Why not F1 2016? Actually I played that a lot more since I only got 2015 a few months before F1 2016's release. I played 2016's career mode. To be honest I'm having more fun doing its practice programs than actually racing because F1 2016's cars feel weird. Its FFB is attrocious on my T300RS.

In F1 2016 the tires feel so unpredictable. The handling of the cars on F1 2016 feels so canned, the rear grip is like an ON-OFF switch. It's like driving on F1 car smooth glass track. Slicks grip hard but there are invisible banana peels on some parts of the track.

I grew tired of F1 2016's terrible FFB so I installed F1 2015. Oh boy, I should've done this sooner. It's definitely no RRE or AC but this game's handling and FFB feels more believable than F1 2016. In this game I could really feel how adding more downforce helps me keep the car in the road. The tires also feel like rubber tires. I like the way I could add just a tiny bit more throttle to get the back-end slide a bit. Driving and finding the limit of the car in this game is really more enjoyable.

F1 2015 does what it has really good, I think. This might not be a good "game" compared to F1 2016 but I'm having a lot more fun driving the cars of F1 2015 than 2016. F1 2017 definitely has the new spec cars but I hope they feel closer to this game than 2016. A meaty career mode is well and good (I saw that 2017 will have an RPG-like upgrade system, awesome) but if the feeling of driving the cars suck what's the point? If I just want to have fun managing the car's upgrades I'd just go play Motorsport Manager.

I dont know why this game has so match negativ reviews, it is my first F1 game, and I like it.
It is running good on my Linux, the only problem I have, is that it only start on one monitor (on the wronge one) so I need to that one off.

Ich weis nicht warum dieses Spiel so viele negative kommentare hat, es ist meine erstes F1 Spiel und ich finde es gut.
Es läuft gut auf meinem Linux, davon abgesehen das es immer auf den rechten Monitor startet, was der falsche ist, ich will es auf dem andren haben. Also schalte ich den rechten Monitor aus wenn ich spiele, kein großes problem.

I run the Feral Interactive port of F1 2015 in Xubuntu (17.10) using the default mesa/amdgpu driver that is included in the linux kernel/ubuntu repository. This is my first F1 sim, so I cannot compare to prior Codemasters F1 games. I have logged 157 hours in this sim and thought it is well past time to give it a review. I am very much a beginner to F1 sim racing and I am coming at this review as a complete noob. Because F1 2017 has been out for a while, I doubt this review will be of use to anyone except for a fellow GNU/Linux user who has an interest in it for whatever reason.

I do my races in regular Championship season mode, medium AI, 60 minute practices, full qualifying, and 100% race lengths.

Installation was via steam and was a breeze

I find F1 2015 to be quite demanding in system resources on budget system hardware similar to mine. I can run the sim on medium quality settings with 16x anistropic filtering and disabled TAA/SMAA with FPS in the 50's. F1 2015 is more demanding on system resources than Dirty Rally and GRID Autosport. I do not have F1 2017, so I cannot compare to this sim.

For a first-time F1 sim racer, I find there is quite a lot to like in F1 2015. Visually, F1 2015 is quite a nice sim to experience. The colors are bright. The environments are detailed. The cars have a good look to them.

A feature I particularly enjoy is the dynamic weather system. It is pretty cool beginning a race in dry conditions, gradually moving to wet conditions, and ending the race in dry conditions again.

Tire wear is also a feature I really appreciate, which I find plays a significant role during races in F1 2015.

During races, I follow the crew chief’s race strategy; however, I have experienced situations where I feel like I can change the race strategy for a better race outcome, which is an immersive feeling that a race sim to offer sim racers.

F1 2015 includes a Pro Championship season that emphasizes realism for the sim racer. In Pro Championship mode, driving assists are turned off, race length is 100%, cockpit view is required, and disabled pitting help. I have not done a Pro Championship season yet; however, I look forward to this mode as I want as much realism as I am capable.

For me, the single worst part of F1 2015 is the inability to review results of previous races. A race standings page appears just once never to be seen again. A work-around is to take a screen shot of the race standing; however, this is not as convenient as if this feature is built into F1 2015.

The second worst part of F1 2015 are when the AI gets alongside of me and takes me out with an angry maneuver that defies physics. The angry AI maneuver is most annoying when it occurs when I get a blue flag and let the lapping car along side of me and in the blink of an eye I am wrecked into the wall/grass. It is hilarious to watch, but not fun to experience. The fix to this problem is to improve my racing ability so that I don’t get lapped, and the most effective fix is to stay in first from beginning to the end of the race.

Not so Good
- Inability to review past races during the same season
- AI can unfairly be angry at times to the detriment of the player

if you enjoy real formula 1 racing as a spectator play this once and you will see what its really like behind the wheel of a f-1 racer . buckle up

Go wait for F1 2017 and play F1 2014 instead.
