Its ONE WEEK FROM CHRISTMAS and here's a little patch update for WHAT THE CAR?

OVERWORLD
• Fix for not being able to complete 'The Gang's All Here' achievement. This means that current live users who have 7/8 characters will get the achievement next time they appear in the home hub.
  
• Fuse from the Frogger level in the swamp finishes in the middle of nowhere
  
• Fixed glitching Dialogue Alert Icon
  
• Community Level Bug in License to Car / Removed the extra crown pad in the book
  
• Certain cheering bears appear green when you unlocked them after the elevator. They are a normal bear-brown now.
  
• New elevator: Car got tossed too far when exiting the elevator under certain conditions. Now it gets tossed a normal amount.
  
• New elevator: Fixed overlapping text in certain languages
  
• Ice week 2024: Sign at elevator had overflowing text in a certain language
  
• Swamp skull level: Got boosted the wrong place after skull level.
  
• Cable from generator was clipping under the ground in every overworld
  
• Hallo-wheels Hunt: removed Z fighting on the ground at the elevator
  
• Fixed issues with the duck displayed on a screen in the ... goose... mini-game found in Episode 5: DRIVING
  
  
  LEVELS
• In CAR NEEDS AN ICEBREAKER the button was for 'HONK' but the action was jumping - now it matches!
  
• Certain bike stages have low FPS and stutters on Steam Deck; this should be adjusted now!
  
• JUMP THE ROPE level: trees were blocking the view of the car in the end shot. Can't mess up the money shot!
  
• The wire keeping the big cranes in CAR WITH LARGE LEGS onboarding did not rotate with the crane itself. Rotate enabled.
  
• A couple of things were floating in the last onboarding level. Get dun.
  
• Ice week 2024: Players were able to get stuck in a gap in the stage CAR NEEDS AN ICEBREAKER - patched this.
  
• Ice week 2024: Certain intro words were not pronounced correctly

• When selecting the name with the dial, choose the thumbnail button in the top right
  
• Take a picture from the level!

Tip: Move the camera angle for more fun perspectives! 🦅
Also tip: If you create a little area that is separate from the level, you can make some real funky patterns with the items... 🎨

Now that you've JUST learned how to make a thumbnail

• Make a level with a palette from the ICE TO MEET YOU Special
  
• Make a creative/fun/funny thumbnail for your level
  
• Share your level on the Steam Community Page here or post it in #contest on our Discord[discord.gg] and our panel of experts will check out the thumbnail for your level

There was a misalignment between Steam achievements in Episode 1 that should be patched now! Please, let us know in the Community Posts or on Discord if anything pops up that makes you go 'HMM' and not in the fun weird gameplay but in broken gameplay way.

Hello dear car-nnoisseurs!

Here's some exciting patches, bug fixes and QoL updates for WHAT THE CAR? 🌟

Take a deep breath, find a comfortable way to sit, stand or float in the air and then take a read through the report ⏬


The tutorial levels are now:

• JUST A NORMAL CAR?
  
• CAR WITH LEGS
  
• CAR WITH TOO MANY LEGS
  
• CAR WITH JUMPS
  
• CAR WITH VERY LARGE LEGS
  
• BEAR WITH ME

Each of these have gotten a new make-over visually and we tweaked the controllers.

• There’s a new transition scene between tutorial and the first episode ⭐
  
• Certain levels have been removed from Episode 1 and integrated into the Tutorial instead
  
• New decorative scenarios and dialogue added to the surroundings in Episode 1
  
• Changes to the navigation of Episode 1
  
• New UI for dialogues alert (see bottom gif for example)

Part of this is also the transition between the episodes! Now, instead of getting a bear on top of CAR and this bear unlocking the computer to the next episode, it does so right away, with the new Episode Elevator!

• New ‘Episode Elevator’ - a much quicker way of navigating between episodes. Enter the Elevator and scroll to select the Episodes as they unlock!
  
• New Hypezones for each Episode, now in the main room
  
• It also gives an overview of which levels you have completed and what kind of crown you got in the Episodes 👑

Edit: Yes, this means some of the secrets of the dungeon travel has been moved... Time to find the new spots 👀

• Did you have trouble publishing a level?
  You should be able to let loose your creations into the world now! (Please let us know if this is not the case after downloading the update!)
  
  
• The was a paint splatter drawing issue in the Party Episode - you should be able to draw as many… bananas… as you want now!
  
• Fix to the navigation in Episode 3: WORKING, where certain spawn points would lock you if you jumped off the train.
  
• Fix to make it easier getting to the SKULL LEVELS in Episode 3: WORKING via the train
  
• Fix on a paper trail from a certain prop in A-maze-ing Weekend Event
  
• Fix Ghost Trail in Hallo-wheels Event
  
• Fix with HONKING mechanic in certain dialogue scenes
  
• Fix of Level UI being stuck after save resets
  
• Fix with names of Remix Levels on top of leaderboards
  
• Fix the dial size on episode selection
  
• New bear dialogue at the end of the Party Episode
  
• Fix bug where elevator bear would be invisible in unlock sequence
  
• Fix to remove conveyor belt
  
• Fix to UI of pages in the Card Book
  
• Fixed shiny material (it’s NOT shiiineeyy ✨)
  
• Removed bananas from Screen Falling animation
  
• Checked cell overload before releasing a prop from a Move Car in the Level Maker
  
• Moved the Guide Bear position
  
• Fix to animator for bear on the horsespring Jump Hypezone
  
• Fixed error for build tests
  
• Fixed bug where remix pads would show as completed with the same crown as their original level, even if player had not played any remix
  
• Added CAR WITH LARGE LEGS palette in Episode 1

In this update we messed around with a new car-sona introduced in the SANDSTORM! episode that we feel didn’t get enough attention - everyone’s favourite [copyright redacted] hedgehog ball guy! 💙

As we drive into the Hallo-weekend, here's some patches for WHAT THE CAR? 🎃🔨🔧

Have a nice drink (even just a glass of water! stay hydrated! 💧) and read through the report ⏬

• Fixed rare softlock issue in Episode 7.
  
• Changed UI in elevator menu from decorative to functional (now it scrolls!)
  
• Adjusted the gold times for these levels so it's a bit easier 🥇:
  - IT DOESN’T EVEN RAIN
  - CAR-ILLA LIKE BANANA
  - THE RUDE SANDSTORM
  -SHAR-CAR-NADO
  
• Removed an invisible wall blocking players from reaching the finish line in the Frogger level. 🐸 The one Smii7y was struggling with. Oopsie.
  
• Removed invisible bumps on the roads slowing down your speed in the levels THEY SEE ME ROLLING and WHEELS ON FIRE ALREADY MOM’S SPAGHETTI. This issue has continued for a while but we're hoping this one is it 🤞

Feel lost? Don't know where to go? 👉 You might be in a maze! Get outta there!

The newest update in WHAT THE CAR? features maze creation as the theme, so get lost in the sauce of all these puzzling locations that players have made! 🔨

Open the game and head to the A-maze-ing Week event from the home area to try it out. You just gotta walk into the specials elevator, and it's one of the - now - many specials options!

Try make your OWN maze in the level creator! And don’t forget to share your link here on the Steam Community Pages or in the Discord so everyone can try! Sharing is caring 😏

Fun fact 🤓☝️: if you want to get out of a maze IRL, put your left hand on the left wall at the entrance of the maze and follow the wall without lifting your hand.
You’ll find the exit eventually (also works with the right hand / right wall). You’re welcome! 💅🏼
