Finding an eroge game on Steam these days isn't too difficult. However, finding one with high quality—not just in the H scenes but also in gameplay—is exceptionally rare.

The last time I recall playing an H game with strong gameplay and great H scenes was Glory & Miserable Survivors DX. In that game, the developer successfully blended elements from Vampire Survivors with decent pixelated H animation and CGI scenes. However, with Yarimono, I’d dare say you get more than what you’re bargaining for.

You play as "Fat Kun," living in a world where boys and girls as young as Ash and Misty from the actual Pokémon show set out on their journeys to catch them all. Through a strange turn of events, not only do you manage to procure a very rare and unregistered "Yarimono" (yes, it’s basically a Pokémon), but you also gain the rare ability to one-hit KO opponent Yarimonos.

If you've played Pokémon before, Yarimono is almost identical in terms of mechanics: a top-down, pixelated adventure where you battle monsters into submission, enslave them, and use them to fight others. You travel from town to town, level up your Yarimonos, bond with your main Yarimono, and—most notably—after defeating any female opponent, you can engage in an H scene with detailed F2F animations. The illustrations are by no means bad and add to the experience.

You might ask, "One-hit KO? Doesn't that make the game boring?" Well, yes, if your goal is to steamroll through the game just for the H scenes. But remember, I mentioned this game closely mirrors an actual Pokémon experience? If you choose not to exploit the one-hit KO ability too much and play the game as intended, you’ll find a surprisingly engaging mix of Pokémon mechanics and eroge elements. It’s a unique blend that guarantees a good time for those looking for something beyond just the H content.

The most and most downside I could thinking of is the method of patching this game to its full potential. You will need to creating account on the 3rd party site just to get this patch and play the game as its should be. The procedure can be quite a hassle, Especially on people who doesn't really want to create account just about anywhere to patching the game. But aside from that. This game is one of few example of when Eroge with solid gameplay done right.

Yarimono - 6/10 - Listen, you're here now reading this cause you saw the cover and said, wowers, boobies and Pokemon? WIN WIN! And...that's what this title basically is.

But a nice surprise I will admit is how dark and twisted the story gets. In the end we have a nice little twist of an experiment gone wrong, and how humanity is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ as always. I really actually liked that, and the ending was dope.

The battle system is serviceable. It's very much Pokemon Red/Blue, but also it's a lot quicker. Usually two attacks and the monsters in this die. So it's nice it's sped up.

You're wondering how the taking someone to pound town looks. Well it's not bad. Some questionable characters aside, whoever you beat you can ♥♥♥♥ (Female only. Come on people, skipping a whole group of people who can enjoy this! #gayrights.

I will say the scenes are fun but also they get a litttttttle stale by hour 2, and the last hour I just held B to speed through them. Fun for horny players like myself, but they don't add much, and in the steam version if don't download the patch, they're completely skippable.

Anyway fun little title for 4-5 hours. If want to complete everything sure a lot longer, closer to 10-15. I overall thought it was a decent fun time.

The lewd content is on some offapp website which is annoying and it was pretty mid anyways. It wasnt long before i was skipping past all scenes.

As a PKMN clone though, this game is great. It has all the quality of life feature that shouldve been adopted a long time ago. The story is great too.
