Its like ftl except they made it into a vr mech fighting game, its awesome. The replayability is great too

The most polished perfect game i've played this year!

Fighting hordes of foes, crushing junk until it's a mess, dodging death with only 1 arm - is the gameplay that makes you sweat and it's extremly fun and exciting. With all of that comes great music, visual style, which in combination creates unforgettable atmosphere (Like Need For Speed Most Wanted 2005).

Also, optimisation of this game is amazing, smooth, crisp. Every AAA 15 fps soap slop should learn how a good game runs

So good I bought this game twice, my hours are likely at least 2-3 times displayed as I bought it on release on the Meta side. There are 4 things I want to highlight about what make this game just so good, it was VR GOTY for me 2024 and it is a shame that it lives up to its namesake, Underdogs is an Underdog.

Visceral - Punches feel fantastic, they feel powerful, and they feel like they make sense since you are a person inside the mech, your human model is displayed and you see your arm move, then the mech arm move. Punches feel heavy and connect with power. Nailguns are super satisfying to hammer in a junkdogs head, Buzzsaws sawing an enemy in 2, Wrecking ball swinging around your head like a flail... Every weapon feels great and they all have their own character.

Jank - This is a physics based fighting game and unlike basically every other game in that category, there is NO JANK. Never do you punch an enemy and it just wiggles off and slides around on them. Every intended punch will hit, misses will miss, but never will you get betrayed by janky physics acting unpredictably and taking you out of the game.

Vibe - This game is a vibe. The gritty simplistic visuals combined with the artstyle and music, it does a fantastic job of worldbuilding the cruel city that is New Brakka. You might not even like the music and you will find yourself vibing to it.

VR - The use of VR in this game is a rare perfect receipe. Too many VR games are really just a flatscreen game in VR with the bare minimum in terms of VR use. Underdogs actually uses the medium to perfection.
- You being a person in a mech, visbly so is massive for immersion.
- The unique movement system, and before you think arm locomotion = gorilla tag or Gorn, no it is its own system. The locomotion in this game is physical, you pull yourself smoothly along the ground and it is extremely intuitive how it works.

NOTE : Underdogs is a Roguelike, a full run if you complete it lasts ~1 hour. The replayability in the game is from the simple enjoyment of its combat mechanics, and the many mech loadouts that you may experience from double Saw builds zooming around to a 1 hit headshot punch build, there are tons of combinations... oh and you burn calories doing it.
