The remaster of the legendary classics now running properly on windows, with embedded multiplayer, optional graphic enhancements and 2 brand new episodes by Nightdive Studios and MachineGames. The gameplay remained almost the same, yet nightmare difficulty was changed slightly (now the max health you can get is 50), plus broken kill counts were mostly fixed (except for the Dissolution of Eternity episode). Multiplayer now is easy to set up or just get into a random lobby. As for the new episodes, Dimension of the Past is a fine short tribute to the classic Quake levels, while Dimension of The Machine is a solid expansion that takes into the account all the experience of Quake level-building of the last 20 years and where having the graphical enhancements turned on actually makes sense. If only that expansion introduced new weapons or enemies and had an actual solid final boss. Plus, the game has an add-ons menu with a dozen fan-made expansions available to download (though having a proper mod repository would be much better), so if you are hungry for more after finishing the official campaigns, you can quench thirst/

Overall, if you have never played Quake, this remaster is a great way to do so now. Unless you are going to dive deeply into the modding and mapping scene, there is no need for you to download any other source port.
